Just put 265/70/R17s with KO2s on my OR and I am looking for a little lift to help clearance. Wheels rub a bit on my mud flaps but I think if I get the stock flaps it will not rub. I am looking for maybe a 1" or 2" max for a reasonable price. I am thinking I can just get 5100s to lift a little. Would that be enough for a 1-2" lift, and is it a good idea? I don't really know ANYTHING about lifting so bare with me. I see stuff about leaf spring lifts? I think I want to stay away from a spacer lift as I have read some bad things. I really have no idea what to do or look for so your suggestions are very welcome!

If you want to lift, go 5100s. But 265s should clear without rubbing without a lift...

5100 all around or just in the front? I am getting rubbing now on my plasticolor generic flaps but I think I am going to get the OEM flaps because the sit more flush so it probably wont rub.

If you get a chance, can you take a few pictures of where it's rubbing? I have the plasticolor flaps and would like to go up in tire size someday. I'm wondering what I'd be up against.

Yeah I can take some tomorrow. It's not super bad but I just don't want any rubbing at all

If you want to just level the front, just throw the 5100s up front. If you want to lift up the rear and the front, put AAL on with the 5100s all around.

Hey I'm in a similar jam! I want to throw on some BFG ALL TERR KO1. 285/70/17 and I'm also going to throw on a ProComp 2.5 inch leveling kit in the front. Do you guys think ill run into any rubbing issues?

Ditch the crappy ProComp lift and go Bilstein 5100s. And yes you will rub even with a 3" lift. You will need to take the front mud flaps off and do minor trimming on the fender flares. If you wheel, you may want to do a cab mount chop and pinch weld mod. If you don't wheel, you can get away with just a 2.5" lift and removing the front mud flaps.

I have weathertech mudflaps and the inside edge of the front flaps rub when turning to hard lock left or right. I have trimmed the lip on the edge of the flaps but they still rub slightly. I'm going to take a heat gun and try to re-shape the inner edge of the flap rather than removing them. With black paint, they do a good job of keeping junk off the rockers and protecting the finish.

FWIW, I'm running 265/70/17 Toyo Open Country a/t 2 tires, which have a very square shoulder.

17" TRD wheels w/265/70/17 BFG KO2s, Weathertech mud flaps, Gecko LED bed lights, more to come.
You'll still rub with the factory ones. I have the Weathertech ones and I rub, gotta do some reshaping but I'm not worried about it in the meantime.

    Thanks for taking the pictures!

Interesting. I'm not sure the OEM mud flaps would be better for this issue, but I haven't really looked at them closely.

I wonder if there's a reasonable solution short of removing the flaps. Could they be trimmed aggressively or held back farther with some sort of bracket? It's not a factor for me yet, but I'm glad I know to look for this if I upgrade tires.

Are you running the TRD wheels? I wonder if a similar size on the stock wheels would have the same/better/worse issue.

Here are pics of the OEM flaps i just got today. Less rub than the plasticolor flaps, but still some rub when pulling into a driveway (depending on speed and angle). Doesnt rub all the time.FullSizeRender.jpg FullSizeRender.jpg

Hmmm. I see now how the OEM's are more flush. I guess with a lift it would rub less often, but it would probably still rub when off road. Other than that, I guess you have to decide if having mud flaps is worth the rubbing.

Maybe this isn't practical (I'm not looking at the problem in 3D), but I wonder if some heavy trimming of the Plasticolor flaps and some custom bracketry could locate it such that it doesn't rub? Seems like a significant project. Someone will figure it out at some point.

The plasticolors could be easily modified. I was about to do it but then decided to just go to the dealer and try the OEM flaps first. The OEM flaps can be modified as well which I will probably do. Seems like I can either cut the plastic in a smal area or try to heat it and bend the plastic. Will post up the results if/when I decide to give it a try.

Looks like maybe a dremel might be the answer... easy to take material off without butchering the whole thing.

I went back and forth and didn't like that the 5100's are not designed for the 2016's, mostly due to them not being rated for the stock springs. So, I decided since I'm only wanting to level mine out I'm going with the Toytech 1/2" spacers which give about 3/4" lift. If I was going any higher I wouldn't use spacers but for the small bump, and at $65 for the spacers it feels like the right move.

What do you mean "not rated"? Something with weight or spring travel? Are there any good adjustable alternatives to the 5100? again, im new at all this so bare with me.
