    Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
    $6k for supercharger but you'll want more...
    $1k easily in exhaust
    Another $1k for intake, fuel pump and smaller pulley

    =why the hell is the new supercharger so damn expensive!?!?!? Boycot till the price drops! I think we can get them down to $3k!

    Sometimes I wish I woulda kept the WRX... If only I could justify both.

    I think you need a few more things that say TRD on it under the hood! Where is the TRD radiator and oil fill caps?

    Magnuson sells stand alone fit kits through LCE now, so those lucky SOBs who had blowers but no fit kits have a way to be made right. I'm firmly in the camp that I'm going to buy the supercharger when it comes back down in price to what TRD was selling them at before, probably with a meaty pass through anyways. $4k or bust, so probably bust. And the guys who talk about just being satisfied with what we have don't help the situation at all. I test drove my truck in Denver proper but regularly drive up through and over the mountains. With a couple 3 grown men and snowboarding gear I have to hammer it at 4500 rpm to get through some spots with the transmission downshifting like an anemic 4 banger. When the truck is loaded down with camping gear it's even worse and towing a jon boat or pop up seems out of the question. I'm tired of hearing about how I should've just bought a Tundra as well. I never thought I'd be getting buzzed by soccer mom crossover SUVs with more power than my truck when climbing. I love my truck, its suspension and interior especially, but just need more horses and don't want to be bent over a barrel by people who know we're in need.

    Is it $6k installed? Isn't that just the price of the s/c?

    For reference, I had my s/c installed in September 2014. I think it was $~4200 for the s/c and fit kit + $800 for labor at toyota for the install (I was able to get the whole thing included into my finance deal otherwise I would've had a friend do the install for much less).

    What reflash are you talking about? You mean the one they do after the s/c is installed?

    Take this into account as well...

    HP Loss = (elevation x 0.03 x horsepower @ sea level)/1000

    This loss of power caused by elevation affects the supercharger as well. Just take this for an example. Right now I am at 5000ft elevation, and let's just say that my setup with the smaller pulley is making 340 at the crank(ish) at sea level. Using these calculations I am probably somewhere in the range of 289 horse at the crank. THEN we have driveline loss... :( That said I am probably barely faster than a stock Tacoma would be at sea level. At 6500 feet when I put the blower and smaller pulley on I saw my boost touch 6psi just a couple of times, but I WAS now able to hold the interstate at 75 without hunting for gears, which was my primary motivator. When I was down in TX for a while I was hitting 9psi on the regular. The truck felt like an absolute rocket.

    Putting a blower on at your elevation will definitely help, but I am not sure that you will net the results at those high elevations that you were hoping for, especially with a full cab. You will still be hunting for gears. Those damn sea level people and all of their advantages! If you got that "fuck you" money lying around though there is no good reason to not pick one up I just don't want anyone getting expectations too high. Get the UCON as well if they ever release it for your year as you will probably be able to get another 20-30 whp out of it without a whole lot of trouble and run nice trims even at those really high elevations.

    All said do I regret it? Not a bit. The highway cruising is completely changed.
