Not really all new. Just Pistons and bore. I'm sure your not doing any head work or rods and such.

Other then valve stems I assume.

He's gonna look at the head and decide. My guess is he will do a valve job.

Shoulda brought it to my shop. I'da saved you some cash and just put another engine with a warranty in it. Not knockin' your shop tho. You're here in Laramie, right? I'm sure I've seen your truck around, which is cool BTW.

I called quite a few shops in laramie a month or so ago. 6k plus with most telling me 10k to get an engine in. I had a group of guys willing to help pull it but the guy at my shop offered his help at a lower hourly rate. We talked about an engine swap but a low mileage (60k) 2tr-fe is $2500+. The warranty offered was basically for the parts and not the labor. If it didn't work out I would be out the labor costs.

Not sure how much you could have got me in and out for but had you posted yesterday I could have took you up on that offer!

The 60k take out price is legit, I don't worry about the labor on the warranties because I've never had one fail that wasn't for customer responsibility, i.e. overheating etc. I know the labor is well under $7500, but I'd have to check because it isn't that hard of a swap. Sorry, I just found your post.

No problem. I went with the rebuild because swapping in an engine was similar pricing. Cheaper by a couple hundred and when you look at what you are spending...that's marginal. Once the truck is running again this summer we should hit up some back roads. Always looking for another truck to tag along.

Yeah, I'm game. Gonna go play with the new truck today somewhere and try out some of the systems and see what I like and dislike in snow and mud with the stock tires just to get a feel for it and find all it's breakover points. So far it handles a lot like our FJ Cruiser, so we'll see.

Awesome, been waiting to drive a 3rd Gen. One day ill go test drive one.

Took a trip to Sheridan for the weekend to help my dad get some headway on a fence he is putting up around his property. Man, that is some tough work. Good to be back in Sheridan though. Currently enjoying a beer at blacktooth and going to grab a bite to eat in a bit. Then finish with a movie.

My goto as well. Should be able to find it in Casper. We have it on tap now in Laramie and can get it in cans at all liquor stores.

I've only tried the amber. Hard to venture when I know which I already like. I'll have to find somewhere that will let me order a flight of them all.

Saw your truck yesterday at the machine shop, when I was paying my bill. Sounds like Ray is having an interesting time with your engine and where to get info on 2.7's. He said he'd never worked on one before, and we both agreed that they are pretty reliable little engines. He seemed to think maybe some sand came in through the intake and got in your rings. Anyway, cool truck, how did you get so big a tire under it? I didn't really scope it out all that much, just thought it was an interstingly cool truck.

That would be crazy if a little sand grain caused this whole thing!

I just cut the fenders two inches and beat back the pinch weld.

Yeah, it's amazing how clean an engine wants to be these days. I think I've probably ran 2 gallons of mud through my old FJ40's engine and it still runs like a top! So you're basically running 3"ish of lift and those are 35's right?
