Gotta try and talk her into it. Going to sound stupid, but here goes. With two little ones now I feel the need more than ever to defend my castle. Even though we live in a real quiet neighborhood, people are nuts and you never know. Self defense and protection are key.

 

It's a good start. Maybe leave the castle part out if you want her to take you seriously, though, haha!
Sign both of you up for a safety class; it'll probably help put her at ease about them. From what I've found from personal experience, a lot of people just don't know how they work, so they're scarier because they're an unknown.

 

Good point about the not knowing how they work. Definitely going to try and see if I can talk her into it.

 

Only place I go in CT is the casinos. Oh I did drive to Hartford last year to pick up a bike in rush hour on a Friday. Fuck me..

 

OUCH. Out of all the places in CT that is the worst.

 

Serious question though, about guns and getting one. Please don't judge me, not looking to getting into an argument. Does not being a US citizen affect that in any way?

Meh, I'd go back to NY (and likely will at some point). Once you isolate the tumor (NYC), the rest of the state is really nice. I'd consider Maine also if I had any reason to live there.

Upstate NY is very nice. The problem is that most of the public policies on a state level are dictated by the a-holes in the city. If they weren't so dependent on the tax income from NYC, I bet upstate would have seceded from NY years ago, lol.

Yeah, that's the truth... what is nice about upstate is, if downstate passes an absolutely ridiculous law, upstate LEOs just don't enforce it.

 

I noticed that too. It's not as bad as it was a few years ago now but still.

 

Has anyone else noticed how weird the alerts tab can be? Sometimes nothing comes up on this thread and then I looked in my watched threads tab and see that there have been a bunch of posts (even recent ones) but I'm not being alerted about them.
