Can you take a picture of between the cab and topper similar to the one below?

Great looking truck! Would you mind telling me if both sides of the window slide or is the back window only? I'm looking to buy the exact same thing potentially with windoors if the front window is stationary.

    Tim,

Thanks a lot for all of your help!
That was a quick turn around. Leer did a much better job with their mold. Hopefully my local dealer can fix mine.

Anytime John, I know how frustrating it is to not be satisfied with these sort of things. Mine was back at the factory twice before I finally cancelled the order. They ended up giving me a deep discount on it and I fixed the issues myself. I don't know what to say about the fit on yours, seems like a pretty excessive interior overhang so I would hope they somehow make it right for you. From the outside it actually looks really good.

Glad you posted the pics, if that is a Leer as I take it is. That is a bad cap imo. I had a Leer 100...something, the cheap end, on my '14 and it fit perfectly. No overlaps, etc....

I have the same Leer coming in for my '16 and I am going to Hawkeye that fit for sure.

Got my ARE MX Series cap installed yesterday. If you're in the NH/VT/ME area, I highly recommend Line-X Of Merrimack Valley in Bow, NH. I did a bunch of shopping around and they were willing to price match other dealers. $1922 installed for MX with Yakima Racks, headliner, tilt/slider front window. Don't go to them (or anyone else) quoting me. Do your own homework and work your own deals. No fit issues that I've found yet, but the dealer encouraged me to stop back in if anything is wrong with it -- leaks, gaps, etc. Oddly enough, the addition of the cap made me hate the grill and stock wheels less.

Up next: building out my storage system.

Looks nice! The trim at the bottom of the rear window looks similar to my ARE Z Series. Can you easily open the tailgate with the window closed? That's really my only complaint with my ARE (other than the fact that I really need a taller cap like the MX). Thanks.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the window has a lip on it so you can't open up the tailgate with the window closed. I'll grab a pic later. Seems to be a common complaint/question people have so I wonder if it's new that ARE is putting the lip on it. I've never dealt with caps before.

My ARE (it came with my used '016) has what looks like the same the same lip/extension at the bottom of the window, yet I can easily open the tailgate with the window closed and fully latched. A little friction from the weather seal, but I don't have to force it at all. I checked to see if my shell could be shifted forward at all ... maybe 1/8". I'll try that. For now I'm just keeping the tailgate locked which is a hassle, but unfortunately I live in an area where theft from cars is epidemic.

That looks really good. They nailed the color match. Have you noticed a difference in gas mileage?

Yes lost about 2 MPGs with lift and tires got 1 back with the shell. I'm getting about 17.5 with 3" lift and 33" tires can't complain.

Did the cheap Leer, 1,300.00. Used the other Leer comments and pics to make my choice.
I think that with the Leer over hang, off of the bed rails, it really exaggerates the decals if they are off the slightest.
I asked the installer if there is any magic of keys to get everything correct on the install, and he said just eyeball it good. I am pretty sure that if the graphics are way off, it could be caused be an installer over tightening the topper to the bed. There seems to be a lot of play with with the Leer that overhangs the bed rails, I guess this is typical with what others have observed. Other than that, very pleased. I do not think that it fits as well as the Leer on my '14. Seems that the sides matched up with the old black bed rail covers. This new one has the overhang maybe as a way to add some fudge factor?
