Air on board to rigid

can someone tell me what colours to splice from the rigid harness to the new switch. (Air on board) Not electrical confident.

 

Relay Harness
Harness - Red wire to Green/Yellow from AOB switch - Constant positive wire from Relay
Harness - Black wire to Black wire from AOB switch
Harness - Blue wire to Red/Yellow stripe wire from AOB switch

AOB Switch
Switch - Red/Yellow stripe wire to Blue harness wire
Switch - Green/Yellow stripe wire to a Red harness wire OR fused switched 12v source (if you want the bar to turn off when truck is completely off)
Switch - Blue/Yellow stripe wire - use an add-a-circuit and tap the "Tail" fuse. this will light up the switch when you flip on the parking or headlights.
Switch - Black wire - Black harness wire OR in cab chassis ground

Finally found a add a circuit for the atm lp tail fuse.

So I remove the 10a tail fuse and place it in the slot closest to the prongs. Do I need another fuse for the top slot for the switch? I don't imagine that the switch light will draw much at all, correct? If I do need a fuse for the AOB switch, what size for the add-a-circuit?

Another alternative to light these switches and have them dim with the dash lights is to tap the wires on the back of the HVAC controls with a couple of quick splices.



On the black HVAC connector, tap the solid green wire (+) and connect to the blue wire from your switch.
On the black HVAC connector, tap the green wire with white trace (-) and connect to the black wire from your switch.

I am sure you probably have it figured out by now.

I believe there are instructions on the packaging that state which slot is for the stock fuse and the other one is for the accessory, the switch in this case.

AOB switches are rated really low for current draw, hence the reason you have to use a relay with them. i thin you would be just fine with a 5 amp fuse.

 

I did... Appreciate the reply. It did take some playing with. I was trying to find a 5a lp atm fuse, but the smallest I could find was 7.5a.

So I purchased a Mictuning push switch that is pretty much the same as the AOB switch, and I got it all wired up except for the wire that hooks up to your parking lights or dash lights for illumination. Anyone know where that wires is at? And after I got it all hooked up the switch worked and was only illuminated when pressed in, but after a little bit of use the illumination when pressed in stopped working, but the light bar itself still turned on. Any ideas?

So I installed the AOB switch to the Rigid harness per the discussion above, but the LED in the switch is constantly lit, no matter if the light bar is on or not. Does that mean I have a faulty switch?

My Rigid harness is wired directly to a constant 12V.

 

Where did you run the blue/yellow stripe wire to? I don't use AOB switches but as per post#2 this is your LED positive as I understand it.

 

The AOB switch has 2 LEDs.
I ran the blue/yellow to the taillight add-a-fuse circuit. That controls the lower LED of the switch, and that one works fine. The top LED is the one that's acting up. This one should only light up when the switch is turned on.

 

Follow up to my issue above, I got it sorted out. Two wires on the switch were reversed, the red/yellow and green/yellow. Make sure the wiring colors are in the same order as shown in the picture of the first post, or you will have to check their wiring diagram and wire up accordingly.
