Mass. is in phase 1. The remedy for phase 1 was out in late January. The fact that you just got your remedy letter yesterday is indicative of the clusterfuck this recall has been from the start. I live in Pa. which is phase 3 and the remedy for phase 3 was Feb. 29. I have still not received my remedy letter but I made an appointment to get it done anyway. I took it in and they said we have to inspect the leafs and then order new ones. They said my leafs failed and I will be going back in about 10 days to get them installed. They have almost 700,000 trucks on recall for leaf springs but don't have leaf springs in stock? The whole leaf spring recall was a circle jerk without a pivot man from the beginning. Huge fail for Toyota. It will be 19 months from first letter to remedy when I finally get the springs. Way too long for a safety recall.

How was the quality of the new springs? I'm contemplating replacing the shocks at the same time. I have just over 140k...

I got my letter a day or two after I had the recall done, I had the notice on the Toyotaowners site and just called a couple dealerships. THe new springs are much better than the old, original 2+1 leaf I had before but they still aren't great. I'll keep these until they wear out and then replace them with something better.

The first dealer I called didn't tell me ahead of time they might not have springs, so I showed up and they said I need new ones but would have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for them to be delivered. I called around and found another place that had them in stock. I can't say I really understand toyota's "solution" to all this, what happens in the mean time if/when a spring breaks and punctures another gas tank??

Sheesh. Us here in Hawaii will probably have to wait another 5 years to get our leaf springs replaced then.

Did they really do an alignment? My dealer says they will not be doing an alignment and they would only do an alignment if they were replacing something in the front suspension not the rear. Does anyone else who had the leaf spring recall done know if an alignment was done? I'd like to know so I can push the issue.

Do you know if they did an alignment with the install of new springs? My dealer says they will just install new leafs and will not do an alignment. Others who have had it done said an alignment was done. My springs are on order but I would like to know if they should be doing an alignment? Maybe I should just try another dealer.

I had the spring recall done and they do not do an alignment as part of it.

I just got the spring recall done this week. No alignment was done.
Truck does ride much stiffer now. Guess I'll get accustomed.

Just FYI for folks that are waiting on frames. I got a letter last week from Toyota about the leaf spring recall. It said I no longer need to bring my truck in for the springs because their records show I got the new "fixed" springs when they swapped my frame.
So it looks like they are including the new springs with the frame kits.

    Final straw for Toyota!

I just went in for my "inspection". Sat for 1.5 hours for them to tell me what I already knew, my springs need replacement. So I am now on a WAITING LIST for springs. I am in a phase 2 area and my remedy should been available over a month ago.

Toyota has screwed the pooch so hard on this that they should be brought up on animal cruelty charges.

Bilstein 5100 shocks all around, old man emu springs, add a leaf.
Just an FYI on alignments: there is no 4-wheel alignment for these vehicles. I used to drive a subaru so I was used to having a 4-wheel alignment done, but being this is a pick-up truck with the option of 4WD rather than real-time AWD, I don't think it's physically possible to align the rears, only the fronts. In other words, the rear is a fixed system where you're only dealing with properly balanced wheels to accommodate the desired ride.

Now That's a good question for the TW Alignment techs. I "Thought" (and not that I'm correct) that the rear was aligned to the frame then the front to the rear ???

Toyota turned me down for spring replacement because I have an add-a-leaf. Any modification to your spring makes it ineligible.
