Bed liner is more flexible than frozen water. The problem is bonding.

Here's mine when I sold it. A picture is worth a thousand words. OK, maybe a little fading ;). Again, I was pleased with the product. No doubt it also depends on the amount of abuse. Mine was light duty for the most part.

Bedrug is priced at $383 from auto anything.com They have evidently modified it now to fit the 2016. I just pulled the trigger so will see.

I'll yank it and toss in a bed mat if I need to do that. Right now I've hauled bicycles and dogs on it under a topper. FWIW, in 10 years, I never hauled that stuff on my line-x'd 1 ton CTD either, though.

    This.

I'd like to have the added layer of protection from a spray liner, even though stuff can wear through it depending on the object.

I've had line-x in my old 2000 Tacoma, it was very durable. I wanted the sides covered as well, also anyone can just reach in a swipe the bedmat..

There are mods for securing the bed mat to deter a quick theft

The mat is inconvenient to steal due to size & weight. its heavier than you think.

Inconvenient, maybe; but it's lighter than I thought it would be.

Hauled a few big rocks in the back of the Tacoma on the way down from a mountain last year. The washboard road ended up causing the rocks to vibrate and rub against the front wall of the bed (towards the cab). I now have a few gouges and white scuffs from where plastic wore away. I can see the benefit of a spray in bedliner in this regard. So, it's not just about having the rubber mat on the bottom, which I have; It still doesn't provide any protection to the walls. However, if spray-in liners won't stick, then it's a no-go for sure for us 3rd gen owners. I am a bit disappointed in this because I loved my previous truck's Rhino Hard-Line Liner. I felt very confident throwing whatever back there. After 8 years, it was faded and was "receding" around the tops of the rails, but I'm sure it would have been touched up and/or resprayed.
