The problem with the popup at the front is that you can't get to the utilities if you push it all the way to the neck.

Also, fuck a pop up. I've had them and they're a royal pain in the ass. I'll stick with my tent before buying another pop up. :D

My other plan was to mount a RTT on the tongue until I decided exactly how I wanted to frame out the living quarters and had the money/time to do it.

YEa but you dont have to buy all that stuff with a stock d60. The chromo toyota stuff is just about as strong as a stock 60, and if you arent breaking longs, then you probibly wont break d60 stuff.

    Wuss!

I say this as I go outside to make sure my window unit will fit in the windows in my camper build.

I laughed and pitched the under the trailer bed idea and she liked that.

Edit: besides ill get to watch my hot GF bend over to crawl into bed every night. You know cuz lady's first and all.

Far from poor, I just have multiple things I'm spending money on lol!! Plus dropping 10k plus into a pile of worthless scrap metal to go beat on in the woods is asinine IMO. Much rather SAS it cheap as possible and go have fun, this truck has maybe 5 yrs left in it anyway before it needs replacement, or a full new frame built.

@45acp: I wheel with a guy who has a mini truck that has maybe 4k into it including purchase price, and that little bastard will go anywhere you point and it and will not break no matter how hard you try. I sit back and thing WTF am I/we doing....

If he rolls it/munches the body/ blows the motor, he buys a new one and swap all the parts over.

HAHA, i was talking about that with my wife the other day at home depot. Bling parts are cool, but for around here having coil overs 40s and all kinds of other pimp shit gets you down maybe 1 extra trail.

Plus the building/working on things side of this hobby is my least favorite part. I would much rather have something dirt simple, will wheel, wont break and will get me home. I don't need to be tuning coilovers, figuring out suspension geometry and all that other crap that comes with it.

Window unit with some ducting, could be fine cheap but would look extremely redneck.

One way to look at it is if you but quality parts you can transfer them to the next rig, or go tube buggy with all the parts leftover.

That's the plan, this thing will have good parts, they will just be wrapped in junkyard housings, and or bought used.

Buggy's are a waste of $$$ around here, the closest place to use one is 8hrs away. When people go the buggy route here, the countdown to leaving the hobby begins....

Understandable, there's some good spots within 6 hrs here. Usually around here people go full circle. Stock to buggy then go back to a mild stock build because the buggy got boring.

I would like an Ftoy though! They would actually be almost perfect for what we have within driving distance. Just not capable enough to make the trails fun lol. I would miss my AC though.

Ac for wheeling in the south is a must. It gets hot a fuck and humid as hell.

A/c and closed cab are the biggest reasons I chose to stick with my truck instead of a sami buggy

For sure. My truck was having an overheating problem this summer while on the trail (clogged radiator coupled with a bad fan clutch) and i was AC less in august, not fun even with the doors off. Nothing like crawling a rock garden with the windows up and the AC on LOL!!
