    So ive noticed that all of the older trail gear bumpers have a straight lower bar and then the top bar is bent down to meet the lower bar. Ionsidering cutting the sides of mine and flipping it. What do you guys think?

    The Bumper i got has the bottom tube bending to come up and meet the upper bar like this....

    Would it be worth cutting and flipping it like this.....



    I think I like it better with the top bending to meet the bottom bar. Thoughts?

    I was literally thinking this exact same thing the other day. Weird. I agree the older ones and your photoshop look better. Do it so I can see how it turns out.:D

    you catch on fast. ha ha. Take a look at Beertimecontinuum's TG. He went crazy with his and it turned out awesome. He added some plate around the ugly spots below the tail lights and fabbed a swingout. Looks even better in person.

    I agree, it flipped does look a little better but is it worth breaking the itegrity of the solid tube to flip it? That kinda shit annoys me too, but I've messed with a few things that were small scale just bothered me and when I was said and done modding the mod it was a headache and wish i just left it. Just my two cents.

    Yea I have decided to leave it even though I think it looks better and more functional the other way. I wonder what made them change the design on the newer bumpers. It's literally the only bumper they make that is this way....

    Did you have 885s before you went to 887s? Thinking about doing the swap when I flip the shackles. Your running stock length shackle?

    I'm wondering if on a truck x years old or newer the bumper has to be so big. On 4x innovations website for the high clearance they say it's the minimum legal height of 4" on the back.

    Ive always had the 887s and i really like them. From what i understand the 885s and 887s have the same spring rate but the 887s are just longer. I am running the stock length HD greasable shackles from ATO. I like them. There are some that say i would get more articulation out of longer ones which i don't doubt but i already have a ton of lift in the rear even with all the weight. I would also have to do the shock relocate and replace my shocks with longer ones to maximize the travel. Another day another dollar. I'm happy with my suspension set up now and don't really plan on changing any time soon. When i do Ill focus on the fronts because my rear articulates quite a bit more than the front. I've got my eye set on LT when i do upgrade.

    Never heard of that but that would make sense. So you are saying that it has to be at least 4" high on the back? Im really more wondering why they changed the sides. Also not sure how enforced that is.... Ive seen some shady stuff on the road haha

    Yeah. This is what 4x says, "Built at the government mandated minimum bumper height of 4 inches you can't get any smaller of a rear bumper without being hassled."

    Correct the 887s are just longer. Looking to have the front keep up with the rear when I flip and run 4" shackles. They are only slightly longer than the stock shackles. I may keep the 885s and see how it looks first. If I'm too ass up I'll swap for the longer coils.

    Not sure, you'd think a state thing but not sure. I've seen a lot of small tube bumpers here but they are all on older toyotas and jeeps

    Im on 887s with stock shackles and dakar and i maintain about a 2" rake even with the shell, rack, and drawer. I would say that you will most likely have to go to a longer coil.
