So im a paid professional toddler, and by toddler I mean i draw, design and do other kid-like shit for a living. Never being 100% happy with things the way they are I tinker. Like all professional toddlers.

I am absolutely not a fan of Toyota's TRD branding, I've always felt it lacks some bit of maturity and or is oafish and clumsy looking (this is just my opinion, over my certain design aesthetic)

I was thinking of making some TRD offroad and sport stickers that reflect better the market (again my opinion) The Offroad ones could all be laser cut vinyl and the sport would need be printed on a uv clear vinyl.

If I were the take this task to town what are you guys thoughts on viability?

I would give you money for a pair of the third down on the left.

    I dig it.

I like these. I'm not sur ei like the "Toyota Racing Development" spelled out. Any other text options for that area? maybe a cool phrase like.. "let's get gone..." or other/multiple options to pick from.

Would these be ultra flush with the paint like the stock decals? or would they be thicker with a more obvious decal look?

I havent got that far yet. Just mocked these up lastnight.

Depends on cost and quantity really. The left column being just laser cut vinyl would be significant less expensive and much easier to manage multiple colors.

Not bad. I'm just not digging the font though, especially the A. The letters seem to be too vertically stretched as well. I can't imagine too many people will like the ones with the moon. Looks like a children's book cover. Another person mentioned not spelling out Toyota racing development. I agree.

I really like the mountain silhouette on the left. Overall, I like where you're going with this.

Was wondering the same thing this morning. Once I seen blackohio was his user name I became even more cautious. Glad it turned out to be some decals and nothing more

I like the mtn/moon maybe not enough to make them into extra stickers. I think it has a modern take on classic dakar type iconography. I'll wait and see what my options/cost is before sinking too much time into this.

The left column looks really good and dig the font. The letters are a bit tall, but overall thumbs up.

I see you're an Art Director for Rotiform wheels among others. As a fellow VAG enthusiast, Rotiform has the cleanest wheel designs on the market. Each wheel looks like a piece of art.

My sons 01 MK4 I helped him tinker on before upgrading to the Tacoma.

Not a fan. Looks cheap like the GFX packages on GM's.

It needs to be more 'racy' or technical.

Should be similar to Fords SVT sort of branding.

Or BMWs M performance branding .. BUT... Not as good as the full ///M or AMG.

    Feel me?

Not really. The stuff you're referencing is all very clean italic san serif, forward motion type stuff. Which make total sense as a road package, the idea behind these being carry forward the overland aspect, marry it to clean type. To each his own though. Im just looking to dump the unappealing factory stuff for something thats more my aesthetic. It's ok if you don't like the direction I end up at, i have tough skin.

While I wouldn't put these on my truck just because I like the "modified stock" look, I would be all over these if they were on a t-shirt or sweatshirt.

    nope

    font is all wrong. period.

I wrote why earlier then deleted it thinking I am coming off as a dick

but people get paid millions to pick fonts that evoke certain emotions purchasers
and owners can find an attachment to, and yours ain't it imho

for a beer, yes. for a tacoma, nope.

You dont like what im doing here, cool. This next part is just my professional opinion. There is no right or wrong. The TRD iconmark is horrid. The faux shadowing is neither appealing to me or interesting. The whole sticker there looks like its 25 years old and not in a good way. We can argue this shit for eternity and never reach an endpoint we'd both be satisfied with.

-I'd like to add here my aim is to both satisfy myself, and the larger group here as if Im going to spend money to make them, i'd like to recoup. Im also not done here, this is essentially a place for group feedback, like having my own in-house focusgroup. As for the reference about people being paid money to design stuff, i'm well aware of that having worked in the creative industry for more than 2 decades with some large companies under my belt (Ive done apparel for Nike, Nike Olympics creative, Adidas POP displays, as well as Shimano Bike creative in recent years.)

With all of that being said, rev.2 - and locked up copy isnt 100% Just looking at how the items interact right now.
