Auto-unlock

Just got myself a TRD Sport 4X4, its awesome, however I have been locking her up and when i return minutes/hours later it's unlocked.

I know that you can approach it and when you reach for the handle it unlocks but this is not the case. It has just been already unlocked, wondering if anyone has had the same anomaly.

 

are you sure you are locking it by touching the ribbed area on the front part of the door handle.

 

are all your doors shut all the way? when you touch the door handle do you hear one or two clicks (beeps)

 

I'm using the vab. Yes all the doors are shut. But i didnt know you could use the ribbed part of the door to lock it as well. .. cool shit.

Maybe I'm just losing my mind and not locking it in some occasions.

 

Just asking OP...Pocket unlocking by hitting the fob? Did you leave your 2nd fob in the truck?

 

Holy sheet batman... can I actually lock the f'n thing by touching the handle... totally new news to me... Good stuff..!!

The OP has a 2007. The touch handle unlock is the smart key on the 2016 (drivers side only):

"Toyota introduced keyless ignition and entry (Toyota's "Smart Key") as a new feature for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma. The good news: it's pretty easy to get on a Tacoma. If you pick the midgrade TRD (Sport or Off-Road) or top level Limited, you get it as standard equipment."

The 2007 (with the remote door lock option) has the auto lock feature where if you use the fob to unlock the door and don't open a door for 30 seconds it will lock itself.

Why would it auto unlock on a 2007? Someone maybe effin with you using a second remote? Remote in your pocket getting pushed? Someone more knowledgeable can hopefully answer...

 

also has a 2016 listed...think that's the one he is referring to...
