Don't forget that they will fallback on the economy as always being worse than it was yesterday and ready to blow away at any moment. Better have every penny you can in gold.

On a serious note holding some PM's is not a bad idea. However having strictly PM based assets as your savings account has historically not worked out in the long term. That's what should be the real message here.

Exactly. Or the fed can raise the rate and it gets interpreted as negative rates here in the U.S., huh? Say what?

With language usage like that who am I to argue.

Calm yourself. Find your center. All I pointed out is that if you are demanding others to be skeptical of the current popular economic theories that you accept that the intelligent and logical conclusion from that thinking is that you should be skeptical of all economic theories. You can't say you're right and expect people to just believe you based on a few Youtube videos and a book by a lawyer with a background in international economics. You have to provide them with raw data and trends that suggest that your theory has a higher degree of credibility and truth than the currently accepted one. You are not providing neutral clean data to support what you are saying so I am skeptical of your point of view, much like I am skeptical of many of the models of the current economic trends.

In short, you're telling people to be skeptical but asking for them to accept your opinion as fact... how is that logical?

And the sheep have came out of hibernation........

If you trust the GOV put all your money in 401K and stocks....
You will be fine, what could ever happen?
They never lie or have pasted any questionable laws....

    So back to econ 101.......

Are we at full employment or is the GOV lying???????????????????

Ah, finally some actual forward thinking. I agree with you here. I never, and neither has Steve, said to have all savings locked up in PMs. That would not a good idea. It is simply a diversification tool. In my mind, PM's are a form of physical asset, to preserve wealth. I can't afford a second home, but can afford a little PM.

Over used terminology and insults don't prove anything. You could be called a sheep by me and you can call me a sheep. Sweet! What did that prove or provide for insight?
I have my money in several accounts. Canada is much different than the USA. 401K's equivalents are not the end all be all here. I have some money in RRSP's, DCPP's, group management equities, currency exchanges, and TFSA's. At this time I have nothing in stocks. I don't have time to play that game anymore.
Last I checked here Stats Can said we are at roughly 13% unemployment locally. That's about right because of the oil crash. Then again our GDP contraction is less than 3% so overall things are OK. Nationally Canada is still riding a real estate boom, which you could actually point to as being a similar investment approach to buying PM's, but I don't know how long that will last. Manufacturing is up though and so is the financial industry. All in all I'd say Canada is just about half way through a bear cycle and will likely begin recovery in 2017 sometime.

It's like trying to tell New Orleans Katrina is coming and they refuse to do anything...

But we know they just like to argue and never make any sense and close their eyes to all facts..........

Would we make sense if we put our thoughts on youtube or do we have to get our economic data from the CIA? Not sure what game we're playing today.

    Everything I post is fact.......

My opinion is to add PMs as one solution to the problem we all face.....

    :notsure:

I think my first comment ever on this page was related to PMs being fine as part of a portfolio. Please don't get caught up in the rhetoric. We people say PM's aren't gaining as much as stocks we aren't advocating dumping assets one way or another. We are pointing something out to help people figure out how much to invest and how much to protect.

So it was fact that the economy failed totally in September sometime and right now we should be seeing the government writing off our dollars 50%-70%....

No, you haven't been posting straight facts. You've posted mainly the opinions of yourself and others without providing enough neutral, IE raw from independent internationally accredited sources, data to support your conclusions.

HORRIBLE analogy. Katrina was documented by the NWS & NOAA

You all keep crying the sky is falling and that we will do away with the USD and China will dominate the world with ZERO facts or empirical evidence.

China will rule the world someday... if they aren't dead from the toll their progress has taken on the environment.

The US GOV is saying we are below 5% which is a very obvious lie and considered full employment according to economics...
    We are closer to 13-18%...

It's a perfect analogy because you look at bad news and just say nothing is happening...
They could see the radar and did not prepare...

The sky is not falling, but we are being fuc*** by the GOV and your bending over with a big smile...

The GOV is just like a customer that has bad credit...

Do they pick out a car they can afford???
No they pick out the fully loaded SUV....
And just like them they are about to go Bankrupt.

OH! You are saying we should use the unemployment rate we were given right? 4.9% which is actually the U-3 figure of the total unemployed, as a percent of the civilian labor force (official unemployment rate)

So you MUST mean the U-6 rate then right? Oh wait, that's actually 9.7% and clearly nowhere near the oh so scary rate of 13-18%

    http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t15.htm

So for the last time how the hell is everything you post FACTS????

I'll be here with my popcorn as you dig up the figure.

Again not dealing in facts because here are the facts:

Average age of cars on U.S. roads -- 11.5 years -- breaks record
