I have been looking for a bed storage solution for some time now. I have a roll up tonneau cover, and wanted something that would fit in the bed under the cover, and provide some measure of security (lockable). I looked at several heavy duty plastic possibilities, but nothing was quite right. I happened to check out a company in Michigan that makes high quality stuff out of aluminum, and found something I thought might work. I looked at their spec sheet for "regular" over the side bed tool boxes and found something interesting......

Well -- I just received my new aluminum, locking bed tool box today. It fits better that I could have hoped. It is from Owens Products in Michigan (owensproducts.com), and is actually made for a step-side Ford Ranger - but fits perfectly under my tonneau cover and between my wheel wells!!
They come in bright or power coated black like mine. Mind you they are not cheap, but this is a very high quality tool box. I plan to secure it in the bed using the supplied "J" hooks to the tie down loops on the side.

I don't see pre-drilled holes on the toolbox. Are there any?

There are two holes in the bottom - I suspect for drainage. The owner drills holes for installing the "J" hooks. Normally they go down and under the side rail on the truck. I will be going to the side to hook to the tie down.

If you buy the toolbox, does the dog come with it? :)

Anyone know of anything comparable that might be available for Tacomas? It's an AeroBox http://www.ecoological.com/aerobox.html, however they do not make them for Tacomas and do not have plans to do so. Trying to find some sort of secure storage solution without using a tonneau or a shell. Would love a bed vault, but can't swallow the prices they go for.

I am about to pull the trigger on buying one from this Amazon link, would you agree that the one pictured on Amazon is not the one actually being sold? It appears much wider, and given that the 90s Rangers are all that model 41011 is supposed to fit, the truck it is pictured on is not even a ranger.... I'm assuming they're just substituting the longer Owens box as a generic picture.

Great discovery btw - I prefer the lower profile of this box and no need to drill the truck.

Agreed - this just must be a file folder photo. The part number listed in the original post is the correct fit. I absolutely love mine.

Mine arrived today! It didn't come with the J hooks, so I was thinking of picking up some U bolts to secure it. Can you post a pic of your final
solution? Did it work as expected?

    Sweet - it looks great!

I did not use the J-hook myself either. I went to Tractor Supply and got U - bolts. I drilled two holes in each side for the U- bolts and simply installed them finger tight.

I'll try to get a couple pics tomorrow and post them up.

By the way - I love mine and it works perfectly. I can easily install or remove the tool box in a couple of minutes by myself using the U-bolts through the side tie downs.
