Same truck as you, with Tech. No HAC.

I was just being a wise-ass-no offense taken. I'm not sure if the feature is different than HAC. Maybe its called something else? I'm trying to find my window sticker to see what it says.

I totally agree. I love my truck (perhaps still honeymoon talk), but my only regret was that it wasn't offered with the long bed...

No luck finding the window sticker. After reading the description of HAC, I don't think its the same thing. What I have is generally referred to as Hill Start Assist. I can't find any reference to it in Toyota's brochure, though. Its a pretty common thing in manuals these days. I think VW was the first to offer it in the US. I'm assuming the OR doesn't get it because it conflicts with one of the other traction systems that apply the brakes automatically. The Sport has less of that stuff.

Mine has it. I assume OR does not because the braking system is different than the other trucks. It is hydroboost or something similar on the OR.

Wicked, perhaps whoever wrote their copy may have confused "A/T only" with "not on off-road"

    You
You need to hold the brake and come to a complete stop for a second or two. Then release the brake and it should hold you.

Just confirmed on the Toyota Canada site, up here the only trim without "Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)" is the access cab m/t, every other trim has it.

Ahhhh:annoyed:I'm so confused right now. What is this feature and what trucks have it? I guarantee you my DCSB trdor v6 manual with no tech ain't got it. But beyond that I know nothing.

Yeah too bad, funny that we just notice this now though... I've never had it so I don't miss it.

Also looks like maybe the AT OR gets it? Could just be another good in the documentation.

I can see this feature being the most useful on the OR manual. Sometimes I do not understand toyota.

I had it on my jeep, and it does come in handy for not rolling back on some obstacles.

Ohhh nice. I'll chime in. Manual only. Just recently sold a 2013 TRD Off Road 6-Speed and I'm in search of a 4-cyl manual... at this point, looking at any generation. Stared at Gen 1, still considering it. Then last night I drove a gen 2 2.7 with a 5-speed, really liked it, but when I saw the price difference between that and the new one I started looking at the 2016 2.7 manual. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

By the way, it's not just Toyota underestimating the manuals. Subaru who used to be very much a manual supporter is doing the same. I recently bought a Subaru Crosstrek for my wife. Had to go all the way from San Diego to Fresno to pick up the ONLY manual I could find in California.
