Tacoma rules for my multi-car use but between the wife's RAV4 & Tacoma......dunno. don't wanna think about it since we'd probably end up in the RAV4 because of practibility factor being higher than us trying to share a reg cab truck. Scary.......

I read somewhere Toyota keep the seats on the floor to keep higher clearance under the truck and to keep a lower center of gravity to help limit rollovers. If you were to increase the overall height of the cab i think it would screw up the lines of the trucks and it would look pretty ugly. 2-3 inches longer would be nice. I like the interior no complaints from me. Power seats would be nice but just something else to break.

Hmm, sounds fishy. If they were that worried they could lower the floor by redesigning the frame without losing much, if any, ground clearance between the frame and the ground. They could also use aluminum like Ford on the body and really drop the COG down.

To be honest the cab design of the 2nd gen was kept around to save money. Don't fix what ain't broken... except to most of us it is broken but not enough to stop us from buying one lol.

I would sell the Mustang, but it wouldn't be easy to let it go. It's actually very uncomfortable to drive now, but fun. However; I rarely drive it.

Since the kid is coming and since the RDX rides like a cloud, I'd keep the RDX. Now, if we are talking 2-4 years from now, I'd keep the Tacoma because he will love the Tacoma. I just know he will.

The only reason I'd doubt that claim is because I think the 4Runner has taller seats than the Tacoma.
I also feel like the 4Runner is more spacious. Is it actually bigger and taller than the Tacoma?

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the 2016. I didn't even see the interior, I just saw the exterior, and I thought, "OMG, they turned it into a minivan." We'll stick with our '07, thanks.

Unfortunately, the Taco would go. The Rav4 wins the practicality debate pretty handily with better gas mileage, a better long distance vehicle, and it is more comfortable. Only place it loses is when it comes to hauling large objects. Every time I get in that thing I am impressed with it. That being said I have zero plans to get rid of my Taco. When I replace it in 10 or so years I hope keep it as our "beater" vehicle.

2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport, fun as it is to drive, would go first. Wife's 2012 Civic (which replaced a RAV4), most comfortable, best mileage, probably would go next. Wife likes the Tacoma too much.

I traded a nice Audi for my 2015 Taco because I wanted more versatility. The Audi was hands-down the absolute best touring car I ever owned and the AWD worked well for weather and twisty roads. but it was a one-dimensional vehicle. With my Taco I can haul kids, dog, stuff more easily but the difference in highway fatigue on my body is noticeable within an hour or two (drove an 11 hour leg with the Audi and never got uncomfortable).

So now we have the Taco and a 4th gen 4runner. If we narrowed down to one it would probably be the 'Runner. If we were starting from scratch and could only pick one, we'd probably start with a 5th gen Runner but sticker shock would have us looking elsewhere.

If I was buying a truck as a part-time vehicle I would have gone full-size to help with towing, knowing that I could leave it in the driveway during the week. The Taco is the ideal compromise - big enough to tow, small enough to navigate and park during my urban commute, and nothing beats the reliability.

This is actually a bit of a fun scenario game.

I have the three vehicles listed in my sig. Both the Spark and the GTO are paid off. Given that, it would seem most logical to keep one of those two. If I did, it would easily be the GTO. Although the suspension is modified, just by sheer size it is far more comfortable than the Spark and actually has more interior room, despite only having two doors. Even though its high on miles, it has always proven reliable.

The other scenario, however, would be to keep the Tacoma. The Tacoma, although the worst of the three on gas, is the most useful tool. Even though I have payments, selling the GTO and Spark would pay off the Tacoma entirely. Its also significantly cheaper to insure compared to the GTO.

    So:
If I need pocket cash: keep the GTO and sell the other two
If I only need practicality: Keep the Tacoma, pay it off with the other two

A little of this and a little of that.
I had an opportunity to transfer to another city a few years ago. Because it was known for terrible traffic, I considered selling my truck and just having one vehicle. I would've used public transportation to/from work. I was going to replace my 4Runner with a new one.
Never had to cross that bridge though, transfer never materialized.

I have an '03 Tacoma and a '14 Tacoma... I would keep the '03 and ditch the '14 without hesitation. I miss the first generation Tacomas. With all the miles I put on these things, I can't really get rid of either though.

I'd have to keep my Bronco. It's been in the family since it was new. It wouldn't be practical at all but oh well. Bye bye '12 Tacoma and '15 Highlander.

We were looking at both a cr-v and a rav-4 a couple years ago, both 2007. Went with the cr-v because my wife was really confused with the 4wd selector switch on the Toyota:confused:. The Honda just decides for her when to be awd.

We had it down to the same two, the girlfriend wanted the rav4 for in all honesty pretty irrational reasons, but I was also for the rav4 for rational reasons. As far as the 4wd goes the ones now are all time all wheel drive, and you can lock it into true 4wd for speeds under 25. Either way they are both reliable, practical vehicles and you really have to split hairs for the differences between them.
