It sounds like you all had an epic day out there. The rain changes everything.

Has anyone considered using chains when the trail is ultra sloppy like that? :notsure: I would think it should help tremendously.

Naaaw dude, it was raining so fuckin' hard & wind blowin' it was getting dark & I told Tony to get his ass in my truck & once I got the tires to bite enough to get some forward motion I planted my foot to the floor (literally) & didn't let up til we got back to the top. I wish someone could have made a video of that because & I shit you not , my Toy was screaming up that trail, sideways, first left then right , mud rooster tails , plants, bushes, rocks flying all over the place kinda scary yet adrenalin pumping kind of shit, because it wasn't one of those take offs where if you don't make it , you back up & try again. We had one fucking shot at it or my truck would be up there too with Tony's.....:burnrubber: :rain: :crapstorm:

Yeah, I'll tell ya I've been offroading for about 25 years & I've dealt with some nasty terrain & conditions but I can't remember when I've dealt with that kind of slip & slide clay, it looked like an orange julius only thicker. You couldn't park on anything more than a slight slope without your truck wanting to slide (at a dead stop !!) There was hard pack under it but problem was your tires would pack with clay & as we know they won't clean out, so you couldn't get a bite past the clay to even get to hard pack for traction. But ask Tony how are psycho run was going back up the hill when the decision was made to leave his truck there, we were fucking flying I think we cut another fire break up the hill, fuckin' manzanita & other bushes, rocks flying everywhere, woulda been a great video......:crapstorm: :rain::burnrubber:

Anyone hear from Tony? It stopped raining here about 6:00 AM & from what I heard wasn't raining up where his truck is except a little morning drizzle, so if it doesn't rain anymore tonight I can practically guarantee that he can drive it out without a tow, nice thing about clay on DG is once the rain stops it drains off & dries pretty quick........ On another note:
Tri or PeeJay , I got to thinking about the jeep with a winch, how close did he get, was he a little past the telephone pole on the downhill side? Cause if he was he coulda taken a strap & secured his jeep to the pole to keep from sliding while winching or did he get that far ? Just curious......

on my way out to glamis today there was clear skies around corral canyon. looked like it was starting to dry out. someone take pictures when they go pull him out ! i wanna see how stuck he was ! and yes the GMC did save the day, but anybody would have gotten stuck there. that piece of hill was insane. even super swampers would have been sliding around up there. we needed something with tracks. any word from tony yet ? oh and heres some proof that im a toy owner !

That's nice Jeff. You need to bring that out to Ocotillo when we go at the beginning of the year.

He got to close.. By the time I walked down there, he was getting stuck himself...Me and tony hooked a strap up to his back bumper and man handled him out.. Could have gotten him farther up to some hardpack, but we just ran out of daylight...If he would have stopped at the Telephone pole,, we would have strapped to the pole, ran out the winch.. and drove home.... Damn... That trail almost ate 2 jeeps to.
