Damn ugly news, thank you for sharing, no one deserves to be run over, I wish we could legally ride back there and it is shitty we have little to no place available for legal riding on LI, the more illegal riding we do the more they will crack down, we need a legal area for trails, sad we will not be getting one, they mention sandy soil and bikes causing ruts.... rain causes the same damn ruts so does foot traffic and mtb riding, impossible that we rut away enough sand that causes this sand bar island to disappear, they simply hate motor heads imho.

Nobody should have been hurt back there. Very bad judgement by those guys. When your caught your caught. Deal with it. This event will only make it worse for the good people trying to enjoy a hobby. Long Island is the place of NO. Eastern Long Island attacked the 1/4 mile drag strip in Eastport years ago. They eventually won and the track with many years of history was replaced with condos. They are doing the same thing with dirtbikes and offroading. The cry babies of Long Island dont want them. For now dirtbikes have 2 legal tracks to ride. It still does not compare to a nice ride in the woods with friends.

I agree with you 100%. And sure riding at a track is fun, but nothing compared to trail riding with friends. I wonder what all those horse back people would say if we confined them to riding inside rings or pens or indoor stables that are only privately owned, taking away and outlawing their beloved state public trails.

The hypocrisy B.S. we all must deal with every day is out of control on so many different levels and on so many different fronts.

Right now the pool looks neglected. We just bought the house and learned the pool has not been open for a couple of summers. Just a lot of leaves, no feesh.

Anyone doing anything this weekend?? Atvs? Guns? Taco TLC? BBQ? Camp? I have the burning urge for a street bike, but I rent and know I should be more concerned with finding a house with a garage... These life problems are dumb.

I would like to host a BBQ meet one of these weekends come late spring early summer, eventually I will put up a poll to see whats best to try and get as many of us as possible, Saturday and Sunday would be best for me, but times can vary and could easily make it an all day affair so that people can come and go as they please yet whoever stays around can meet as many of us as possible, I would try and host this at my parents home in east setauket so i can use their legit grill and backyard for ample space to hang out relax throw the pig skin and easily park everyones truck.

This weekend is Easter so it will probably be tough for some to get out. I for one am working so I'm out unfortunately.

Your BBQ idea would be great!! I still have not forgotten the idea of a camping meet as well. I just have a lot of poop going on now so I'm just holding off a bit.

Went to Centereach Goodyear yesterday to get a tire and alignment quote, super excited for the upcoming lift.

Yes easter this weekend I knew that!

As for the BBQ meet I am looking at maybe early June time probably but hopefully sooner like perhaps May.

LOL at the vanity plate, am I reading it correctly? "Very Taco"

I say this every weekend and I bail out every weekend on myself nonetheless, however, saturday either calverton track or calverton range if anyone wants PM me lol

What did they quote you for four new tires (what size you quoting) + mount balance and alignment?? My time is approaching rapidly for new shoes as well. Currently have duratrac 285 16 and looking to replace with the same most likely or maybe this other tire a lot of the west coast guys rave about.

Finally got the quad running good, that has been my latest frustrating project so Calverton soon!!

Ok so for 285/70/17 with mounting, balancing... Blah blah blah and an Alingment I was quoted 1,404.00. Maybe I'll just do 265's so I won't have to worry about rubbing... So tired of the lift research I do on this forum. So many people have so many different experiences. Rant over

I didn't even realize I could split the difference. That sounds like a nice middle ground. Also hoping to just mount whatever size tire on the stock SR5 rims for now. Doing LR UCA's and hoping to avoid wheel spacers.

from what i gather the 275 is a great option, might not be as aesthetically pleasing as the 285, but a lot of dedicated off roaders have stated there is no advantage in 285 over 275 aside from looks/stance, of course not everything is 100% the case 100% of the times right?
I for one have 285s on 16 inch kmc wheels, all stock oem parts aside from the small spacer lift at I think 2inch, no spacers and without cab chop either, and I never ever rub during regular driving, maybe one or two times I have as I pulled in very fast into a sharp turn that dips considerably, so in other words I never ever rub though I drive with careful respect for my vehicle.

If you want to test drive it feel free and be my guest, just shoot me your best time and day and we can drive around a few miles.

I'm not sure how to exactly embed a thread nor am i looking for it right now but check out this thread. Guy was selling his truck and he had 275/70/17's. I think they look awesome, bigger than 265 but smaller than 285 and he had mentioned he had no rubbing at all......He does/did have a lift though. I'm pretty sure this is the tire size I'll be going with soon. (nevermind, it did embed it, lol) www.tacomaworld.com/threads/sold-2012-dcsb-trd-sport-for-sale-super-white.384528/
