any of you wyoming guys want to help map some trails for an event being planned in summer 17? i am down in colorado, and will be planning a trip with friends of mine to map trails south of riverton area. planning on a 2 day trip. the event is a non vehicle specific event, so any offroader can come. i am part of a group that plans offroad events and wyoming is our next state we plan on hitting. there is a lot of open land and high speed roads. we are currently working with our blm agent to find where we can have our approved campground and once we do, i will be heading out to map trails. anyone is welcome to join us on the mapping. i use a lowrance gps and an ipad with motion x.

looking in august right now. once we get approved campsite locations from blm, we will choose which site will work the best for us. we usually put together 1-2 hour runs and 3-4 hour runs that are guided and loop back to camp. but of course the trails are open for anyone who wants to go explore. these are just for people who want a safe preran trail to run on. our annual nevada event has over 500 miles mapped that people can upload on to their gps device. since im the closest in colorado, i get to do all the mapping....... be warned though, its not all toyotas....

i have run a little bit of trails in the area mentioned and it is a fun faster area. thats why we are planning to do an event there. not much in the crawlers stuff i have found yet, but our goal is to find stuff for everyone.

If you want crawler trails, you just need to go slightly west of Lander. Plenty of stuff there.

Im sure marc will chime in soon enough. He lived in riverton for a few years and now lives in Lander.

Most likely going to be making a trip to Lusk in the next weekend or two. I need to photograph a historic site for a museum style exhibit. If anyone is interested in tagging along, let me know. If you come and take pictures, I might use one or two and give photo credit.

dont know if you want to be on the bike the whole time. thats a lot of riding. our events dont require modded vehicles, however we map parts for people who want that kind of stuff. hell, our last poker run we had a stock subaru in our group.(they bpyassed the rocky sections) but hey, its a reason to ride. we use vhf for communication, if you dont have one, i have handhelds that i can let you use. mapping isnt too high speed. prerunning just before the event is a little faster but we mark hazards, and then the event itself everyone gets to have some fun

thanks for the heads up. right now our issue is that while we have a 5 year blm permit, which allows us to have events on blm, there is a large indian reservation in the area. we need to work with our blm agent to see whats going to work for us. hopefully its not an issue but we will see

we usually avoid cities. our events are vendor sponsored. we have vendors for every make showing up. with the approved campground our vendors bring their rigs, equipment and trailers and set up shop. they have lots of toys and some will even do installs, nightime we get a fire going and its a hangout spot for 3 days to bs and meet new people and do a ton of offroading. lots of knowledge from every aspect of offroading. not something thats good to do in a town or city.
