I'm headed back to California Monday night (LA), though flying in rather than driving this time. LA and Palo Alto sites to work at. Don't need as many tools this time round.
I'll bring my wet weather gear.

well not flying in, in that chopper; i'll be on a commercial fixed wing flight for my paying job. That's an Augusta Westland CH-149, and those little winglets at the end of the relatively small diameter rotors create a 100mph downwash. Three engines, medium lift class. Pic in the sig, is from a multi agency exercise we participated in with 442 squadron from Comox, BC.

I forgot to mention that the 2nd Gen V6 takes 5.5 quarts with the filter. I forget what my 04 V6 took. ( The 70's were good) When I buy my oil I get the 5 quart jug, and one extra guart and use half of it. Hope the first oil change went good.

Yeeeeaaaah, I used to just drop my skids every change. Not hard, and prompted me to do general inspection. So I would also notice which CV boot was shitting the bed.

Nice. Damn, I sold my 1st gen Homeroshi to a total TW stranger in SF last fall. When did you get yours?

And oh yeah, some aluminum Relentless skids may be in my distant future. My location allows potentially "free shipping" with an Eric rendezvous in Sac when he is making a run to the Bay Area. But first I want to get my crossover pipe unfucked so it isn't sticking out like a high-center invitation. WTF was Toyota thinking.

Getting my crap together for the trailer. I killed the battery through lack of use and neglect over the last year during Ben's gestation and arrival and ensuing chaos. So up pops the Northstar battery group buy v2. Ramon and his GBs are killing me. Softly. With his songs...of deals. Because now, I think, I should just get one for the truck, too, right? I mean, it's the sensible thing to do to have the capability and reliability of an AGM out in the middle of nowhere with the family.

But I need to get a tender first for the trailer battery.
CTEK 7002 seems to fit the bill.

Based on @DVexile 's review, just bought these for the map lights (one each side).

And a few of these to upgrade the trailer cabin reading lamps and the exterior galley lights:

I hope to get the new mudguards installed and the Satoshi work completed (paint AC condenser, color match and apply FJ badge, relocate horns).

This type using 5630 Surface Mount Device (SMD) LED would work well as map lights. 5630 SMD LEDs have a higher lumen/watt output than the 5050 style. The focussing of the added lens should provide a spot lamp type output from the map light. You can find models without the lens, for more of a flood output. Look for aluminum heatsink material between the SMDevices versus just plastic. I have the last example in this list, replacing the former 5050 based units, and the output difference is functionally noticeable. I won't go back to using 5050 based units.

Well your timing is just dandy, Pal. The others arrived today. Oh well, I'm sure they'll be OK for 10,000 hours or whatever.

Did you replace your map lights with those linked above?

Finally getting down to Homeroshi prep. @HomerTaco

This will be color matched Silver Sky. Plan to prep and paint it the next couple evenings, and do the AC paint and horn relocate this weekend.

Yes, with the last ones in the list. I suppose you want to change out the dome light too?

If you want any other input, just pm. I understand csjumper gives good advice/products as well.

I had a smaller one, I have no idea what model it came from, that I sent to Ryan Poutine after deciding it didn't look right for me.
Actually, I have a pic of it sitting on my 1st gen Homeroshi....

No, I'm OK with the dome light for now. It was mainly the map lights I find useless and annoying.

So do you just pry the clear lenses off the front of the map lights to access the bulbs? It sounded like this is what Ken (DVexile) did, but like many things on this plastic truck, I'm concerned I'll pry in the wrong spot and break a tab or something. I see one screw holding the overhead console in, so I figure this is the way to start pulling it apart, by haven't had time yet. I was going to did this weekend. The FSM and the owners manual are no help. FSM seems to indicate a few hidden tabs in addition to the one screw, but it has nothing on actually opening the map light housings.

Thanks Rob. Yeah, I heard good stuff about csjumper too.

Oh, wait, maybe you haven't heard. There is this thing they have now called paint.

Yeah, I'm de-chroming here and there as I go. Couldn't stand the taillights, so those were first. The grill will take care of the most hideous offense at the front end, and then I'm headed toward some de-badging. Then that rear bumper. Ugh. The cosmetic stuff is fairly low on my list, though. Mudguards, they need a swappin. The rub at full (actually, mid) lock is annoying. I hope to get that sorted this weekend, too. I am waiting patiently for this suspension group buy thingy to pan out.
