Calls this an eye opening experience, while claiming some people drive perfectly safely while drunk. Makes perfect sense.

Worked in the bar for a year, saw hundreds and hundreds of people drive home drunk, never heard of any of them getting in an accident. That's what was eye opening. If you listen to anyone talk about "drunk drivers" you'd think one sip and people are driving off a bridge. That's clearly not the case.

Maybe, California needs to change their gun laws. CHL permitted states have seen success in allowing citizens to choose to qualify and carry firearms.

Yeah but unfortunately California is lame and doesn't have the best gun laws.

Sorry to hear about that brother, best to let em have it and live to fight another day especially when you're alone. Were you in National Shitty?

The question was regarding your views on gun control and ownership, not drinking.

Not getting into an accident is a long way from driving safely.

Using this logic, nobody should ever use a weapon in self defense, even Police. Wait, there's even MORE instances of this intellect:

    1. "What happens when you try to go on a diet and the fork has more food on it---causing you to gain weight and get deadly diabetes?"
    2. "What happens when you try to swerve away from an object on the highway with your Tacoma, and end up leaving the road---killing a person across the street?"
    3. "What happens when you post an aggressive, idiotic response on FaceBook and it's misunderstood, causing a riot and looting in a city?"
    4. "What happens when you try to put a fire out with a fire extinguisher, and instead cause the flames to move to a more flammable location?"

Yep, huge difference. Being in the fire service as yourself I am sure you have become less tolerant of people choosing to drive drunk than most as well. Sadly, more often than not it's the drunk driver that always walks away. I see drunk drivers all the time on the road and it's maddening. Hell two weeks ago I had a guy in a pickup almost hit me head on because he was driving the wrong way on a divided highway. Had I not pulled into the grass median he would have hit me head on at a high rate of speed and fortunately the three cars behind me followed my lead. MF'er never even tried to avoid the collision or slow down. My best guess is he was either drunk or high as sh*t. Clearly he made it to where he was going safely as I turned my radio to scan to see if any neighboring fire districts got popped for an MVA after I got a hold of the Sheriffs dept and got them going in the direction he was headed.

Jesus, glad you avoided that accident. Almost 3 years ago my girlfriend got nailed by a drunk driver going the wrong way on the 10 freeway. It happened at the worst section as well. There was a blind left hand bend and she went head on with the drunk driver then was nailed by a car coming around the bend. Amazingly no one was killed. All cars were totaled in the accident. The drunk woman blew a .2 and only had the bare minimum insurance. Girlfriend amazingly escaped major injuries since the impact came in on the passenger side and then from behind, however the drunk driver and third car in the accident had multiple day trips to the hospital.

After my first drunk driving accident response I almost completely stopped drinking anywhere where I'm going to have to drive. That's not true for every fire fighters or first responder however. Some use alcohol to deal with the stress of the job and unfortunately put themselves in a position where they may end up being one of those jobs.

To answer as many questions as possible; yes, that video is my truck at the scene. It's a quicksand. I remember someone filming when I was driven to the scene in a cruiser to conduct a curbside lineup. The suspect at the lineup was the one who carried out the carjacking, which I just found out after obtaining the police report. I met someone at a Jack in the Box in Spring Valley, CA, to buy an item off craigslist. The restaurant was full, and a safe place to meet. The transaction didn't complete as the item was fake. I walked out to my truck, and was pistol whipped upside the head by the assailant with a loaded 38 special, and was beaten to the ground as I was reaching for my door handle. He threw me behind my truck so nobody could see and there was no security camera footage in that direction. The robber demanded my cell phone, keys, and cash, or he would kill me. He made it very clear that he would kill me multiple times if I didn't comply. The firearm he used was stolen out of Lakeside, CA. Both criminals are in jail and are being charged with the same things; armed robbery, assault, carjacking, conspiracy to commit a crime, evading police officer with disregard for safety, and terrorist threats. They're bot going to butt****. I didn't actually get food from Jack in the Box, I don't eat fast food.

You were setup. Sorry op. Craigslist is just too full of dirtbags and criminals. Not worth the potential savings of any purchase.

Dirt bags won't want to meet in the police station parking lot. Filters out the scum.
