What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

There is a setting that can be disabled that can shut off the driver and passenger buzzers. You can buy a techstream knock off cable on eBay comes with software that can turn win xp laptop into full techstream tool. Bought mine for $20.00

 

Had my camper shell sprayed with bed liner. Came out good. Just need to black out the rims and rear bumper now

New rims & tires coming, prob during summer though.

 

Things I have learned: when you spray the inside and outside of your shell, it adds significant weight to it. No idea how much, but noticeable difference.

 

Yes it was a noise but more vibration. It started as a slight vibration, and now it's so bad at certain times that it seems like the sub is constantly hitting. I can't use my rear view hardly at highway speeds.

Found out it was my tires..AGAIN. Brand new KO2's with less than 5k on them. Took it to a local shop to get second opinion on driveshaft and they said there's no reason for the shaft to be out of line. Guy that drove it said it feels like the tires are messed up. This happened last month with my KO's

 

A typical bed spray adds about 40-50 lbs. More if you upgrade to thick layer or ask for a re-coat later under warranty. For the shell I think it would be a great idea since it adds sound deadening, insulation and protects the fiberglass.

 

Anybody have a specific tire they really like? Thinking terra grapplers maybe. As much as I hate to steer away from BFG, this is the second time they have turned into footballs and I'm gonna have to go with a different brand. Dealership probably won't put that brand back on.

Got into hydrodipping/hydrographics recently. All you need is a bucket of water, film and activator. Easy enough to learn but takes a bit of technique as you can see i have some defects with air bubbles due to not enough or to much activator. Easy enough to sand down and retry but im happy with the look for now. Planning on doing my HID retrofits with the ballast like Rechelon Aesthetics but paying 1/4 of the price for the same hardware and look. So I started practicing on some interior trim pieces to get the feel for it. Planning on doing more of the dash but looking for info on removing certain trim pieces if anyone has a link for side tweeter trim, etc? Also did my own paracord steering wheel and hand grabs.

 

This has nothing to do about your tires, but I think I saw your truck Wednesday the 23rd at Bryan Easler Toyota. Do you have a receiver hitch with a huge d ring shackle conected to it? Where did you get it? You do have a nice looking truck. Any good contacts in the service department?

The company is called "big ass hitches". They made the hitch, like the actual reciever and the shackle I found when I was deconstructing and cleaning up the old Chevy place which is now Lulus in Fletcher. Big ass also makes the shakles.

Must be tire day for lots of us - got some Cooper A/T3's in 265/75R16. I have a very mild lift and so far have only found it rubbing on the right front side mini-flap in front of the tire when backing up at full left-lock. Very quiet at highway speed. I loved my Dynapro ATM's but wanted a little more aggressive tire this time and went from 245 to 265. Now I hope I don't regret switching

 

I LOVE my Toyo M55 tires. I've had them on work trucks in 235/85/16, 265/70/17, and 255/85/16 and now on my Taco in 255/85/16. Huge fan.

Have the same tires. You'll love them. Take off your flaps, totally changes the look of the truck for the better.

 

Thanks for the input on the tires. Will pass on the flap removal, acutally not long ago put RokBlokz (https://www.tacomaworld.com/out/?url=http://rokblokz.com/toyota-tacoma-regular-05-14.html) on her and ditched the stockers. Don't like rock chips on my paint.
