Damn that extra fee for customization though.

How much would the dealer charge you to make any changes?

Some members had the dealership remove the seatbelt chime, no charge. Then again, some dealerships won't do it for safety/liability reasons. Not sure what other changes they'd do though.

I knew about the price (one time fee) from reading about it online so I'm not really complaining. Just wish it could've been free if you bought their adapter or maybe a smaller fee to download the app.

My truck is due in next week for its 1st service. I emailed them to set up a appointment. The service guy said that they won't disable the passenger seat alarm due to safety concerns. My dog sits on the seat and sets off the alarm. I want that off. Whenever someone is riding in the truck they wear seatbelt. If I can't convince the dealer to change the setting I will consider buying one of these. I can also use it on my wifes Highlander.
The service guy also said in the email that the transmission is a sealed unit and isn't sure if it can be checked but will put a note on the work orders, just in case. I am thinking about printing off the procedure on how to check the transmission fluid and bring it in with. just in case they try and tell me that they can't check it.

The app and adapter will come in handy for sure.

As for the tranny issue, I heard the same thing with the closed system with a few dealerships. I wonder if it's just the dealerships being lazy, but it can be checked and might require some convincing on your end. They might say it was checked with Techstream as well, but it can't be checked on Techstream, don't buy into that BS if that's what they tell you.

Being lazy I made them open it and check it and fill it up.

I think its the dealership being lazy. It takes longer to check the transmission then to do the 1st service. They will have to let the transmission cool down after driving it their. Then they will have to get the transmission into the proper temperature in order to check it properly. Its easier to tell the majority of the customers that its a sealed unit and doesn't need to be checked.

Took me minute but finally got them to check the fluid level the right way and despite what they said about it checking good, I was right the whole time.

Another option would be to leave it over night. Setup an appointment for the following morning and drop it off that day before they close.

I used mine today. Paid the $20 to open up the full functionality and tinkered with the settings. Can report no issues.

Same. Worked perfectly for mine. I got the hardware screen in a friends GTI. I'll have him peek at his dude but the carista had the red light suggestIng power.

I did my chimes, door dings and increased the one touch indicator to four flashes. I'm in no rush it seems.

Just got mine a few minutes ago and can confirm it works. The adapter is on sale on Amazon right now for $31.99. Purchased the pro upgrade for the app and turned off the seatbelt chimes, which you can set individually for driver and passenger seat.

Would the Carista app work for me to program the "all in one key fob"?
Was going to buy the tech stream but this seems more easier to use.
