Three cheers for you! Be happy that you were smart enough to not get ripped off by this dealer pressure tactics and even better you called Toyota Corporate to report on these shysters tactics. My favorite tactic from these clowns is will buy our vehicle today if we give you X amount for your trade in or the price of the vehicle you want to buy, today only!

I shopped many dealers in my area and heard the same BS from more then one salesman and yes I had no problem telling them to kiss my behind and walked out the door. What these salesman are preying on is your emotions of you got to have it now and no one else can provided to you but them. The sooner you get over this got to have it now mentality the better you will negotiate.

 

What dealer in San Antonio? I placed an order beginning of March and was not asked for a deposit. I even pushed to give them one, but they said they would ask for it if they needed it. My sales guy said it should be done around 4/7 and will be here within a week after. I am working with Toyota of Boerne

 

Same here...I'm working with that same dealership. Lol small world. They wouldn't take my deposit either.

 

That's crazy that they will not take a deposit. I would be concerned that someone may come and offer full price as the truck is being unloaded off of the truck.

 

Took possession if my MGM Sport 4X4 with the HH package. Exhaust scheduled for tomorrow.

Waiting on an access cab TRD OR with tech package - heated seats and parking somar, etc. Should be mid to late April. Had to put down a deposit.

 

Dealer said mine should be there on sunday so hoping to go next wed to pick up! Cant wait!!

How long did any mid atlantic guys wait for delivery after your build date? Mine was built yesterday, and dealer is hoping by 4/15. I'm in PA.

 

Dealer says truck should be there tonight. Build date was 3/8

ETA: I have a sneakin' hunch you other guys that got away with no deposit worked a pretty good deal, right? I wonder if that's why?

 

Actually we have not even discussed price. I just emailed back and forth with the sales guy. I offered to leave a deposit and he said the manager would have them ask for one if they wanted one. He said what I am ordering would be easy to sell if I backed out. TRD OR DBSB 4x4 Quicksand w/ Prem Tech w/ JBL and tow package. He sent me a "pre-sell" with the specs I wanted and I agreed. He said they ordered it and I finally got an expected date when I talked to him last week. I am not expecting to get much below MSRP. I'm also not willing to settle for what is on the lot.

 

I think you're better off negotiating price first and then making the commitment. What I did was email all of the fleet departments first to see which dealers would sell at invoice. The dealer I've ordered with adjusted a truck in allocation to be what I wanted it to be but only after we agreed on price. May be a little late unless you look elsewhere first but my deal is $250 under invoice.

 

I tried that with another dealership in town and it was a fiasco. They wasted almost 3 hours of my time and were trying to get me to buy a truck that was in stock but not what I wanted. The sales guy I had emailed with at that dealership assured me I could just come in and order what I wanted. NOT! After the fiasco, I wrote bad reviews about them. Their manager who monitors this posted and offered to help me out. I went back a week later and dealt with another salesman who I talked with and he knew my situation including me writing the reviews. I got there and we talked for a few minutes then he went to get details on ordering from his manager. He came back looking deflated and told me that they had some committee that had met and discussed my reviews and situation and decided they did not want to do business with me! They were afraid if they screwed up at all that my next bad review would be feedback to Toyota from my purchase. Pretty shitty place to deal with. They also told me there was not way they would come off of MSRP.
Other deals I reached out to via Truecar all were worthless and once I told them I wanted to order, they stopped following up.
The dealer I ordered from has been easy to work with and is the same place I bought my current vehicle from. We'll see.......

 

I had to buy out of state to get this deal but the savings makes the hassle worth it.

 

Put a deposit on a BR DBC 4x4 Limited. Should be at the dealer by April 4. This will be the first truck I have ever owned. I have been reading here to try and calm the anxiousness.

 

Took delivery of the 2016 Inferno TRD Sport 4x4 I ordered at the beginning of February. Arrived yesterday afternoon. Less than 60 days from ordering to arrival. Figures as I was hoping it would go at least 90 days since I still have a few months on the car I was leasing. Was looking to minimize having two payments. Oh well. The truck was ordered in the Southeast. TRD Sport 4x4 with Premium Technology w/JBL, Tow package, frameless mirror w/ Homelink, front paint protection and tonneau cover. Brought it home and the first thing my wife said was, it needs a lift and bigger tires. Here I thought going that route was going to be an argument. My reply to her was "Done!"

 

She's a keeper.
