So as far as street bikes I've owned gotta say this I'm digging the new ride more than any previous so easy to ride. Still only 75 miles on the clock so haven't had the chance to really run it out, can't wait for that first oil change! :bikewheelie2: Gonna be a good summer....

I haven't done it personally, but from what I've seen and heard it does just fine.

Its pretty strong stuff. I used it for the trim ring around the twin sticks and the crawler stick exerts some serious pressure and its held great so far.. Plus you can sand and paint it if you're anal about that kind of crap..

I know guys that JB welded quarters over holes they put in their clutch covers with their rear brake pedals when they would crash on the trails. Many of them rode with the quarter JB welded for a long time. As long as it sets and doesn't leak I;d say ride it until something happens. You're looking for a new engine anyway; might as well wait for this one to die.

Most chains that fail it's not a lube problem it's just chain wear or material defects. Other thing is master link failure.

Yeah I have JB Weld u purchased for whenever for my old bike I sold last. Surprisingly, never needed.
Here's a pic of my current and old one that I finally let go last year. My Z got a new paint job though.

True, I'm gonna give the JB weld a shot this weekend and see how I fair. Then I'll order new chain and sprockets. Rear sprocket is already pretty high but wouldn't mind going up another tooth or two.

Gotcha. Probably the original owner never changed the chain and failed to mention it when you bought the bike. People.

As for JB Weld, if you prep the surface in good shape it's essentially a permanent repair. My parents have a '57 Ford tractor that we JB Welded the housing for the water pump on when I was in grade school and it's still holding up perfectly fine, completely leak-free. For something non-load bearing like that spot on your housing it should be fine for as long as you own the bike, as long as you apply it right.
    :notsure:

Agreed. Just prep the surface well and build it up enough that you can smooth it back out inside/out of the case

You guys think I can JB weld it without disassembling the engine? Or will I still need to open it all up to do it? If I gotta open it all up I might as well replace the case, no?

I would pull it since that bearing if right behind there. If you can find a new case to replace it at the same time then yes I would, but doing jb weld is a cheap easy fix.

Definitely gotta open it up. JB Weld doesn't get along well with bearings, really.

IF you can find a cheap case, it's worth replacing it while you've got it split. On the other hand, a tube of JB Weld is what, $5? You're already buying a new chain, obv. You're a better judge of what your budget is than we are.

    $.02

True, I guess it will be a new learning experience for me too. The last motor I opened up was my 50cc dirtbike, and the only motor before that was a small engine for a small engine class in high school over 13 years ago lol. But I'm all about learning new shit and working on stuff so fuck it. I just wish my trucks frame swap will be done soon so I can get all the armor out of the garage and have space to work.

jb weld is probably your best bet anyways. youd have to find an entire case (both halves) in order to swap them both since they are machined.

tearing down the motor isnt too bad, just a pain in the ass. ive never split cases before though and since im opting not to replace my rod bearing ill still have no experience.

damn shitty luck though, seems like a few of us are having a rough start to the season already
