Wiper Blades

hey guys, was wondering if anyone has a preference on wiper blades that hold up well against mud and ice. I gave a set of rain-x and they're aweful

 

Tried a bunch and always return to the OEM one's

 

I've found Bosch Icon to work best. Of course I'm from Seattle though... I mostly just see a shtload of rain, not as much snow and ice

 

That's what I'm thinking... I may have to order them. I can't find my old ones sadly

Compared to OEM? Better worse or equal?

Better that oem... just in the fact that they lasted me alot longer

 

Bosch Icon. Best I've found. I live in the rainy cold and sometimes icy NW and they have lasted the longest out of all the others I have tried. The work great up in the mountain too...like 6000 or so feet

the wipers and some good wintertime washer fluid and you're all set.
I think the Icons have some type of coating that reduces ice buildup (I could have made that up). Just don't use the wipers to wipe away ice and they will last long enough. I usually replace them before winter, so I guess the usually last about a year. Orielys usually has the best price and sometime a $25 rebate when you purchase a pair. They certainly are not cheap, but I don't feel like I have wasted any money on them so far. I even buy them for my wife and she approves

 

Oh yeah, I don't use them to clear ice, just sometimes ice gets stuck on them or the windshield from snow. But if they're worth it, then I'll look into and try to catch a rebate

 

I had Rain-x blades on my Tacoma for week before they went in the trash. Bosch Icon and Michelin Hybrids have been my favorite. The OEM blades I believe are Valeo and they are good also.

 

I have Bosch Icons and find them to be very squeaky. Will probably try a new brand next fall/winter.

I buy cheap and replace as necessary, spent money on the name brands and realized ice tears them up as soon as the cheap ones.

I get mine at Rock Auto for $2 a peice or less, and always have a backup pair sitting in the garage.

 

Are they wiper blades, or wiper refills?

Was a time you could buy refills, and replace them yourself on the blades. Now seems only the complete wiper blades are available now, at much greater cost.
