Does an AAL, either single or 3-leaf progressive, do anything to help axle wrap?

Having more leaf spring layers will help reduce axle wrap, but what are you looking to do? Do you have blocks in the back? If so, that will drastically increase axle wrap and switching to an AAL would help.

I have nothing in the back currently. I just notice the occasional 'clunk' when coming to a quick stop every now and then. I'm stock currently, considering a small lift and AAL. Just wondering if an AAL helps reduce the axle wrap. I currently have the OR 2+1 leaf springs.

I had the same leaf setup. Got the pro comp add-a-leaf. It goes between the +1 and the full length springs and cost around $45. I installed myself in a few hours. Rode like a different truck and have no issues with axel wrap after around 7 or 8 months running them. It also added just about 2" of life after the install that settled to around 1.75" after about a month.

I'd suggest the 3 leaf progressive AAL for the best ride quality. Short single AAL < Long single AAL < 3 leaf progressive AAL < Full leaf pack replacement.

The video here shows axle wrap under acceleration and braking, it is the rotation of the axle under load which changes your pinion angle. This is made much worse when lifting incorrectly using blocks.
