4.0 liter 1GR-FE V6 4X4 TRD 6-Speed Manual Transmission 30K Service Checklist

So the Friday before I left on my road trip I bought a 6-pack of stone IPA and drove over my lift across town. All the fluids looked fine (I don't beat on her too bad) and didn't have anything other than some fine shavings on the plugs.

All in all it took me a bit over 3 hours to do it. (Didn't rotate tires)

Since the switch to Redline up the MT is shifting MUCH nicer with less bogging at low RPM's. I've put ~1000 miles on her since Saturday and am very happy with how everything feels - especially the Trans.



All in all I spent just shy of $250 in parts and fluids and three hours of my time getting to know my truck.

Still no replies with "true dealer costs" on a 30k service yet.

 

Love my manual transmission! I'll be checking out Redline and my truck funds. Are you referring to the 'bogging down' you get at low rpm's in 2nd gear?

 

Yah the feel and noise you get at low RPM's in 2'nd are what I was referring to in particular.

Did you regear?

 

I'm still stock on the gears. That bogging has always annoyed me a bit. I had a 98 4Runner prior and loved the smooth MT. The 6 spd Tacoma MT has 1st geared lower than what seems would make a smooth transition into 2nd (if that makes sense). This is probably for the better when you're hauling heavy loads. I haven't worried too much about it, I just adapted to it.

 

I do my diffs/tcase and tranny oils all the time.

That list looks right. I use 80-90w for my front and rear diff, just your regular store brand gl-5 oil. But i am re-geared to 4.56's.

The number for the washers for the transfer case has changed. It is now 90430-A0003. You also need two of these for the Manual transmission if you have one.

I used Redline MT-90 in my transmission. It definatly makes a difference. When I downshift the syncros engauge more smoothly in first and second gears. It's definatly worth the money to put two quarts of MT-90 in the manual trans.

You have an electronically controlled traction system that simulates a limited slip rear end in your MY11. Earlier MY had a mechanical LSD rear end. Those would require an LSD additive.

So....yes 75w85 GL5 from redline for your front & rear diffs.

That's a pretty good deal. I put the 75w85 in my diffs and t-case. The MT90 in the tranny made a BIG difference. I can feel it when I'm downshifting and I hit 2nd and first. Noticeable difference in smoothness.

The Redline oil is worth every penny. And with 12 quarts, you have enough to change your diffs and transfer case twice

 

The Red Line 75w85 GL-5 says for hypoid limited-slip differentials.
Is that ok?

 

I wonder how many here actually use the Toyota brand 75W-85 LT non LSD gear oil or Toyota 75W-85 LX LSD gear oil?
