New Tacoma owner here. I was planning on getting a 4door v6 but I liked the initial price difference of the 4 cyl. I'm not towing anything so I think it will do the trick. So far I'm loving the truck. Wish there was a little more pick up but like I said, I think it will get the job done.

Toyota has always made good four bangers so I figured it would be solid even if not super exciting.

Now that we talked about it, mine did the backfire thing twice in the last few days and I notice that my fuel tank is almost empty... It may be related. Dis you notice your fuel level when your does it?

Nice truck there! Is it 4x4?

My 2.7 auto 4x4 felt slow until it hit around 13,000 miles. Mileage and power felt liked it increased a little after that.

Mine did this, usually during cooler temps. Toyota has a recall on the catalytic converters which applied to mine (2012). Since I had the repair done I've not heard the backfire.

You know what's funny, my 2015 2.7 liter 4x4 felt significantly better, smoother and more powerful after the 10,000 mile service.

    Go figure!

And per my ScanGauge and Fuelio on my Android my fuel economy with regular driving increase by one mile per gallon. I'll take all I can get!

A setting sun on a silver car with gold wheels is phenomenal.
