I'll let everyone know. The vibrations have actually gotten worse, as I think more of the expando-foam crap has failed.

Just got mine back from the 5000 mile service. The tech and service writer say that the hood vibration is normal and the loose adhesive is not glue and is not meant to hold the hood skin and frame together. Pretty much that its normal and for me to go pound sand. Ill post the ticket here in a few.

It's not normal.. I would try to find another dealer and then report this one to Toyota's Customer service.

Yes just got off the phone with Toyota Corporate. They suggested going to a different dealership. I also stopped by a local body shop and the guy there said he would reapply some adhesive himself rather than deal with Toyota. He did say he does a lot of the local Toyota dealerships work and couldn't comment on it other than that.

Went out and checked mine this morning after reading this thread. It was well secured and doesn't have any deflection whatsoever at highway speeds. Mine was a February build out of San Antonio...looks pretty well done, and the gap looked smaller to me than what I was seeing in the pictures here. I suppose it could be camera angle.

image.jpg image.jpg Dealer had me take it to a well known auto body shop at dealer's expense and at first they only put glue in a few spots but after I inspected it and said I was hoping for more and pointed out where they had missed areas the guy went and did it proper. It had rained a bit so I was watching the rain drops on the hood and no vibration at all.

Funny thing is I'll be swapping hoods tomorrow with @easbaysav. Just wanted to do right by a fellow TW member and get him a solid professionally fixed hood.

Could you take a close up of your adhesive points and post? Just to compare to others that have posted.

The work done is legit and will hold it's purpose. Unfortunately, there was a bit of hesitation on the swap on both ends.

I'll be keeping an eye on it too...I wouldn't hesitate to add some dampening material myself if I start to notice the hood vibrating. Thanks to all who have shared the knowledge here.

For the 2-part adhesives, anyone know of a 'cheap' 2-part applicator gun?

I've looked around and for this (hopefully) one-time use, I really don't want to spend $75 or more for one.

Finally got around to doing mine today. Used the SEM NVH product. It is super sticky, I didn't feel the need to do a whole lot of prep.

Just picked up my Limited (2/2016 Baja build) that came from a different dealership with 10 miles on it & some of the joints have already started to fail...

The sales guy was dumbfounded when the first thing I looked at was under the hood.

I took mine in today to Toyota Of Puyallup, cuz I thought I was suffering from the dreaded hood vibration. Sure enough, they confirmed it. But they called corporate who told them to tell me to take it to a body shop. I said that's fine, but who would pay for the repair. They said IDK.

They gave me corporates number with my claim number.

They also did my 5k service and fix my rear passenger door handle rattle.

    Any ideas?
