I would sympathize if I could consider it as legit. Joins Tuesday but has 5K miles...so not an enthusiast (at least to our degree). But he came to an enthusiast site (or fanatical asylum, we are both). Unless we can experience the same thing he is, we can't do squat. Gotta trust Toyota on this one.

He can always take it a different dealership service department and see if he gets a different explanation. That's all I can offer.

You have to keep in mind he's putting the camera right up to the motor so it's going to amplify the sound. I bet if you did that to any of our engines it'll sound like that.

When the OP pulls the camera away from the engine, you still hear that knocking.

That sound magnifies into cab. Just wondering if anyone else had that with 2016 TRD sport. I went to a few dealers and trucks same year and motor did not make that sound. Love the truck but tapping driving me nuts. I wish someone could reproduce sound even with phone up against motor. Then I could just chalk it up to bad design! and live with it.

Toyota mechanics all agree its loud they just dont know what to fix. Thats why they brought Toyota rep down. That was no help. This brings a new meaning to the "taco tick"

Sorry OP. This thread has attracted more assholes than a gay porn. Usual TW bullshit.
When it blows up, the dealer will believe you.

Saw it in the other thread. Ignore the buttholes, and switch service departments. That ain't right, and if left unfixed is going to break something.

Good luck, and I hope you find a decent service team that won't bullshit you.

First, the op posted but gave us nothing. I can understand if you are electronically challenged but he gave us no responses to follow-up posts. That would make anyone view it as trolling. But then a new post is opened..... for the same issue??? If the problem is legit then I feel for the op but.... You cant tell me that there is this insane noise and the dealer or regional rep is not looking at it.

Oh Hell no......I did exactly what you referenced and Mine didn't have that knocking . That is not a "tick" that sounds like a knock. Either way it is NOT normal.

He Definitely has an issue..... IF my truck sounded like that I would be pissed. Unfortunately he will get no help from TW. No matter how many asshats I ignore , there are always more.

Well if there is a knock and not a tick than there's nothing much anyone from here can do anyways. He needs to take it to the dealer and go up the chain until the problem gets addressed appropriately.

Doesn't look like a Toyota engine to me...
    It's probably Colorado diesel engine...
