Stepping up in the world I see... Lol but that's pretty cool. Is it a different antenna type for a HAM or are you just trying something new?

Today I thanked my Tacoma, for being reliable. After 3 weekends in a row of planning to go off roading, and then ending up working on one of my buddies broken chevys each time. I just had to thank the little Toyota for actually working unlike the 2 chevys that were both broken today. Chevy apparently does run deep, right into your wallet and free time.

 

That reminds me... I wonder if my old 6m radio still works. That could be fun to have in my truck.

 

So after @m3bassman and @Blackdawg peaked my interest on HAM's, I now found out that there is a HAM Club here in Pueblo and they teach free classes to get your license...hmmmmm...

 

do it. Way better then CB and way more cool stuff you can do with it.

 

I think I will over the summer. Can you call someone's cell phone or 911? I see there is a number pad on the Mic.

Not exactly. You can if you have the right repeater tower in range and they have the right system hooked up you can radio call. So yes, and no. the keypad is used mostly for DTMF codes, or numbers assigned it users/repeaters so you can dial them up.

This is a great resource VVV Id highly recommend it for studying to get your Technician License. Then go to the club as well because those guys will be able to help you more then others can online.

 

Bought some new tires today , got some new 265/75-16 Kumho Road Venture AT51 tires to replace the 8 yr old dry rotted Nitto Grappler tires

Do you guys think the hood struts would help reduce hood vibrating at high speeds?

 

No

 

I don't see how. They're designed to open the hood, not keep it closed. Even now that I have them installed, when I pull the lever to release the latch, it's louder and more aggressive than before because the hood is pulled up more than before when not latched.

I think it would be best to raise the rubber bump to keep the hood from moving until you get the cause sorted out.

Have you checked the hood latch to see if it has slipped or is it clearly just the one corner that is out? It almost sounds like someone bent the hood in a shop somewhere. Have you had it worked on recently?
