It looks like some animal ate my hose. I thought I'd be able to just reconnect it with some tape, but there's not enough slack. So now I am looking to buy an entire new hose unit altogether. Has anyone needed to do this before? It doesn't look like a difficult fix, but it is difficult to see where the hose meets the reservoir.

Maybe I can cut both ends flat and just tape it up with extra length?

no. you need to use a connector to bring them together. should be 5/32 or 7/32. you can get this and new tubing at just about any auto parts store.

that tubing is very basic, it's used for vacuum or washer fluid.

where the heck do you find that piece? I can't find anything online. Will both of sizes work? I can find tubing, but no connectors

those are the nylon unions used in a lorry's air brakes.

here's what you do. cut off an inch of that tubing. take it to napa auto parts and ask for 7 feet of that tubing, and several connectors of that size. they'll get you set up.

all you have to do is wedge the connectors into the existing tubes and place the new tubes in between the installed connectors to patch them up.

you will have extra. but that's in case you find other spots that are damaged.

I got 5/32 replacement tubing. So would this work to connect them?

no, again. those are air brake connectors. you just need tubing connectors, they are barbed.

there you go. those are the connectors you need. but get them from a parts store, since they have them in stock. also, you will want to use 3/16 connectors. vacuum tubing will stretch enough to fit over a 3/16 tube.
