Good to see another Washington 95-97. If you've got questions I likely have an answer! What college you headed off to?

Nice haul, those leaf springs are fun. You're gonna be ass high if you leave all the leafs in like I did. I'll be pulling a leaf soon even though it has settled, that's how high it is. Also I can almost guarantee you'll need 3 degree shims to make sure you don't have vibes. Montana will be a blast I'm sure!

would you recommend doing so before I install them? I was hoping the heavy bumper, canopy, rooftop tent, and other misc gear would help them.. Also, how exactly do the degree shims help?

I don't know, you might like it. It was around 4.5in (maybe a bit more) when I had just put it on. Now it is about 3.75-4.00in. These leafs are a fair shade stiffer than the later taco Dakars too so they can really handle a lot of weight even being down a leaf. Your bumper will certainly help and so will the camper shell, I only have a heavy spare tire and a heavy tow package bar. It still won't ride flat even if I take a leaf out which will be nice because I'll ride even loaded down for camping with RTT and all. Shims are nice because they tilt the axle upward a bit and allow the driveline to not be at such a sharp angle. You only need 3 degrees of angle to make a big difference. If you take a leaf out you may be able to use 1 or 2 degrees instead.

hmm. considering I won't always be running around with all the gear I think I'll pull the leaf. Is it the second one down from the top?

Just to be clear mine is 3.75-4.00 after a year and a half just settling with all the leafs. I have no clue what the height will be after I pull the leaf, should still be pretty high if my estimations are right though. Toytec recommends removing the third leaf from the top, but I imagine you could play around removing different leafs just make sure you do the final major tightening down of the ubolts once you've found the combo that works for you. Ubolts are a one time use item so you only want to torque them once you've made your mind up.

Probably around next weekend. I've got a buddy who wants the leaf I take out so he can bump his lift up a notch. Depending on the time of year I live near the EWU campus or during summer I'm just south of Seattle. Right now I'm on spring break so I'm back on the west side.

Yeah I've thought about asking in the past, I like your work. If I can figure it out myself though I'd rather just pay for the parts..

Yeah? The biggest thing I need are mountains haha. I've never looked into AZ.. I thought about Boulder, CO though. I don't feel that anything quite compares to everything I have access to at home.. So I want to do all the same Things, just somewhere else :D

Also still trying to get the energy to paint the canopy. I'm starting to not notice the white as much. Also installing my CB setup soon.

Just had a bummer night! I was driving up a forest service road bumping along, doing 30 or so when The little latch part broke, where there wasn't any weight, and so the entire swing out swung open really fast and hit the side of my truck. That caused the tire to snap off and the swingout/bearing part to completely snap and come loose. Not really sure where to go from here... I'll probably go without the swingout attached until I figure something out.
