well finally got all my suspension installed on my 2013 tacoma double cab 4x4. Consists of:
Fox 2.5 ext. travel front coilovers with resi's and DSC
Fox 2.5 rear shocks with resi's and DSC
    Spc light racing front UCA's
Icon 1.5 expansion 3 leaf pack aal
Toytec 1/4" top playe spacer to eliminate toyota lean
    Fox sway bar relocation blocks
    Toytec 1" diff drop
    OME carrier bearing drop
Toytec rear axle angle shim kit

All installed and ready to rock. Had it on a couple days and heres what i delt with....
First i wanted to make sure what coilovers were factory preset height at, called fox and they said 3" and to turn preload nut addional 2 complete turn to compensate for settling. Did that. Installed them snd info was incorrect. They must have been 2". Im still about 1/2" shy of being 3" from my before and after measurements i dis from top of tire to fender. Thats not including the compensation additional for settling. Now im unhappy because i have to remove them to re-adjust. With the resi fittings snd the new style split preload nut with bolt to tighten the preload nut, makes it unable to adjust nut while installed! So now i gotta spend lots of time to remove them off the truck and do that long job again!! Thanks fox!! After that, my first thought.... I should have went with Icon. That was my one of my issues.
Next issue, after receiving the brand new rear shocks with resi, the clockimg of the fitting to the resi hose was clocked 3 o clock and should have been 9 o clock for the shock to mount and the hose to face the right way. So i called and they basically told me what to do to clock it correct so i did. That wasnt bad but now the fox resi logos are upside down! No biggie, they mailed me new ones so i peeled old stickers and installed new ones. But the point still is i paid 3k for this and i shouldnt have to worry about these stupid mistakes. Makes me wonder if these stupid mistakes are made, hope everything else is good.... Hmmm.
    Soooooo....
I then had to call and just let them know now that im about to install one of the coilovers, i see quite a bit of oil leaking around a nut thats on the lower part of the coilover body, more than residual, but more like an o-rung falure. They say wipe it and roll on and if it shows like its a leak, then they will fix. Again.... 3k later and this shit! Now im definately feeling upset snd not happy thinking i didnt buy the best setup at all.
Im just sad about these issues and few other issues ive had so far with this fox stuff. Im 40 and well expeirenced And mechanically imclined but damn i dont wanna have to pull this shit off again!

I should have just went with my original order ICON, but then changed my mind and went with FOX for the dual speed adjustability.

As far as ride quality, im not super impressed as i should be for spending so much cash on this setup. I have the high and low speed all the way turned down and the rear is so bouncy. Not happy about that. My fronts are ok. Smooth.

Homestly.... Wish i could return it and get the ICON setup with CDC

Also who did you order them from?

I got nothing but quality from mine however didn't get resis or DSC, also my first impressions were amazing...

The rear end could be from the AAL

Well i installed the Icon expansion aal, i had the bilstein 5100 on rear and they rode WAY smoother and softer. More plush.

Im sad i didnt get the "Amazing" impression as i should have. That upsets me.

Plus just all the other issues and wrong info i got about the preset height. Now i have to remove them again and set them and cross my fingers its the right height.

Also have to have a concern if the one coilover is leaking :(

All the little things have piled up back to back with this stuff to make it an unpleasant purchase.

I skimmed through your posts here. It honestly sounds like you are mad that it didn't go 100% the way you wanted and that is affecting your point of view. Which is fine, I just think you need to sit on it a bit.

As for the ride quality, you installed stiffer off-road shocks on your truck. It is going to be a little rougher on the road. You would get the same result from Icon, King, Camburg, Bilstein, etc. You now have stiffer spring rates and the valving in the shocks is stiffer as well as they are designed for fast offroad driving where you need all of these things to go over the terrain quickly. Hell my truck came to me fully equipped with Icon stuff front and rear and it's bumpy. Not to mention Icons are digresively valved meaning they are stiffer at first and get softer when you take big hits. So they will be even harder riding than a fox which is progressive...

As for ride height. Every single truck is a little different and has it's own differences. For a company to be able to give you the exact adjustment over the phone is not going to happen. Just like any major mod on a truck, you will have some things to adjust or re-address. Adjusting a coil spring is 100% standard operating procedure when working with coilovers. It's the same as having to add a little more air in a tire after checking pressure, things need to be adjusted to get perfect. Also consider that the springs will settle a little bit and you will probably end up 1/2" down from where you are right now in a couple weeks.

As for the quality of the shocks you just purchased, I personally think you have the best shocks ever made. I have worked in the industry for 16+ years now and have been inside and used all of the various brands. Fox by far has the best machine quality and their shocks are very easy to work on and rebuild. Their system for the lower coil retainer is genius and saves you a tremendous amount of time when swapping coils. They have been in the game longer than most people have been driving and I trust their judgement. If they told you it is oil residue, it probably is...

If you are that un happy I have a full set of Icons that came with my truck. I would be happy to trade you! If I was buying the parts today I would buy Fox all day long. Like I said above I think you have a skewed opinion because of your experience. Don't let your time at ORW affect your judgment of Fox. My advice, relax, drive your truck for a month and then pass judgement. And like I said, I will gladly take those Fox's off your hands!!!!

Please feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any specific questions, I am happy to help fellow TW members if I can!!!

@MojaveMadman , you may be correct. I think because of all the little issues kind of got me all upset. Ill give it a shot and maybe let them break in and see how it goes.
How long do u suppose it will take for them to settle so then i can readjust?

The more you work them, the faster they will settle. Take it out in the dirt and get those Fox's working! You will find some new appreciation for them and you will help the springs get the workout they need to settle a bit. Won't be instant after that but it will really help. Then after 3 weeks check you measurements again. Take a fender to ground measurement now and then again after a few weeks. They aren't going to settle way down, but they will settle a little bit.

I just got the fox 2.0 rear and ughh what a pain. After the install there is only 1.5in clearance between the reservoir and rear axle.

    c5bab5fb1c452631451b69f4bb22d7fa_bb103db83cdbc1273caebb8a051f314af1d87017.jpg

Wtf!!! I cant mount the resi inline with the main body shock because the hose is too short and it ends up in an angle and not parallel.

Op what wheels are you running. Im using the stock trd wheels and lr uca and im getting wheel rub. Will try wheel spacers. Now im paranoid. Should have went with icons!

Looks like you might have put the shocks on the wrong sides, or spin them 180 degrees so the reservoir is in front of the shock.

And all nitrogen charged shocks are hard to compress for install, Icon will be no different.

I cant spin them 180 deg the fitting will hit the shock mount. I found another member that has the same shocks his hose is significantly longer.

Your post is a bit long to read for me right now OP so I'm going ro ask you a few questions and give you a few pointers to get you headed in the right direction.

You say your rear end is too bouncy, that could be due to too stiff of compression valving. First off, what are your valving settings for the rear end? If you do not know it SHOULD be etched on the bottom of the black shock cap, where the shaft goes into. Another note is that the rear end on these trucks are extremely light, so you go too stiff in the rear without weight, then you will get a bouncy ride. That's just the nature of trucks.

Next off, what are your goals for the truck? Do you want to a pavement princess, an overlander, or a wheeler who likes to have fun on the dirt and sand at speed?

Also, I wouldn't get too hung up on fender heights and whatnot. In order to fight the so called "Taco Lean" and nip it in the bud you must replace your radiator cab support bushings to Polyurethane ones made by Energy PN: 9.4101G this has been discussed in extreme intensity by many members on a post I originally posted over a year ago. Consensus was well welcomed to replacing them as the stockers are causing the entire front end to be leaning. Link right below:

About your shocks leaking, sometimes they are defective from the factory and it is an issue that can happen to any shock regardless of brand. I own many Fox shocks on my truck and have yet to have a problem with any of them other than the usual rust issue. As far as their performance, they have not let me down once.

    Finally...

Get rid of the diff drop kit. They are absolute trash for second gens and can do more harm than good.

Hopefully I'm not leaving anything else off the table that immediately catches my eye. I await your reply back.
