He says it's a gutless wonder, asks where the boost is, and says he needs more power.

In other words, he wants more get up and go. More power. Higher HPs and torque.

Especially when the stock 3.5 can't get out of its own way.

I know you offroad, have you added any skid plates to manage air flow? I know the OEM air dam was good for 1mpg (supposedly). Might be good to slap on some skid plates underneath to help on the highway.

BTW, great truck and it looks like you have a great business. I'm jealous on getting to hunt for a living.

I just traveled from southern California to Denver loaded with 1000lbs of merchandise and I got 21mpg average on 2 3/4 tanks of gas. I averaged 77mph between refills. So I wasn't going slow either.

It's all about letting the truck run through the gears. If it drops to 4th gear on an incline leave it. I'm happy with my purchase.

So my best guess with the OP is possibly a mis alignment and the tires are caved in or maybe his brakes are dragging. Who knows?

How many miles you got on it now? Wonder how much your rigs weight is fully loaded. My mpg is not as bad as yours but I'm not getting 21 mpg either...even empty and driving slow my best is 17 mpg. When I load mine up and drive like I want it's getting 13-14. I got 6500 miles on mine

I don't think it's entirely reasonable to take a truck with a 1500lb payload capicity, strap what has to easily be 90% that weight to it, and then complain about it lacking balls and getting shitty mileage. There is no shot at it being able to perform like it was always supposed to with all that added weight. If you wanted power with all your mods you should have gone with the Tundra in the first place as your build OP suggests you considered. What you would give up for in size and maneuverability you would get back with basically twice the haul capacity. As for suggestions on your Tacoma...seems like you should try to build a time machine so you can go back and not do all that shit to a truck that couldn't handle it in the first place.

Or more likely it's partially due to worse aerodynamics from all the add ons. The roof rack and the front bumper a not doing him any favors and probably acting more like a parachute than anything.

I have 5100 miles on it. Haven't weighed it yet but I'm guessing I added 1500 lbs or less. These 21 MPG stories are either false or there's a huge inconsistency in these new trucks. Even bone stock I never got better than 17 MPG. Now the best I can get is 13 MPG. :jerkoff:

Animals don't see the color orange. It appears as an earth tone (tan) to them.

Best advice I've ever recieved! So HELPFUL....:rimshot:

If I drive the speed limit and ease off the line I'll get over 20, but I tend to drive 75 and can be a bit heavy footed off the line leading to 18 mpgs most of the time.

I'm waiting to find a set of these also, just for the 33's and extra weight. I know I'll be having the same problem.

Well the speed limit here is 80 MPH. Hence the best of 17 MPG.

A heavier axle is just more weight to drag around, not a solution. The factory axles are strong enough for what he's doing.

Highest in California I believe is 70. Most freeways are 65 until you get out in the desolate areas inland.
