My driver side leaf spring had a leaf break and I need to replace both of the springs. The OEM/factory replacement parts are pretty expensive. Does anyone have any after market suggestions at a better price? I take it off road quite a bit and wouldn't mind a stiffer ride

Dakars. You'd have to modify them (remove leafs) if you don't want all the lift they provide.

for stock leafs, i used the dorman 929-401 on my passenger side and haven't had any issues. doesn't sag any more or less than the OE i still have on the drivers side even though it has over 200k miles on it.

it only works for the 6 lug i think between 98-2000

I found a pair of the Old Man Emus for about $380 which seems like a reasonable price. Besides the bushings and the U bolt what is needed for the install? How much lift do they provide?

I got the J59 Deavers for my regular cab '04 4X4 with the 2.7 and I'm happy. The reason is that they only provide about 1" of lift and that is what I wanted. I didn't really want any lift at all but I could live with 1". The only problem with the Deavers is that they aren't designed to carry real heavy loads. From what I have read anything more than about 4 or 500 lbs on a regular basis, especially off road will ruin them. Since I don't carry more than that they work quite well for me. I love the ride. The OME Nitrochargers I have make it stiffer than it would normally be but I can deal with that. There will be times when I carry a real heavy load but it will be very rare so I'm a huge J59 fan so far. They aren't cheap but they cost less than the factory junk. By quite a bit. I think mine were $600 from Wheeler's.

Check General Spring out Of Kansas City

I have bought all the leaf springs I replaced from them

Even with Shipping the local shop will not come close to the price.

    Can`t hurt to check.

I had good success with Wheeler's 5 leaf pack, pretty beefy, rated well. OME are good too, but you'll have to buy some other parts and take out a leaf to stay stock-ish height.

Are the Wheeler's 5 leaf pack 1.5" above OME?

No, the Wheeler's 5 pack are about 1.5" over stock. The OME leaf packs provide even more lift than that.

I meant to say OEM. I have 240,000 miles on my 04 with the OEM leaf pack and a 1.5" AAL and 3" Eibach coils in the front with Bilstein 5100's on the bottom setting. So it looks like the Wheeler's 5 pack would be something comparable to what I have now in height but even better, ride wise. I barely haul anything except for the occasional load of firewood. With the Wheeler's 5 pack I would probably get more height than the worn out OEM leafs and the 1.5" AAL I have also

I'm sure you'd like the Wheeler's 5 pack, especially once you put one next to the old original leaf... big difference.
