How's your driving. My truck won't stay in 6th gear. Seems like the tires are too heavy. I end up placing it in 5 and daily driving it that way. If not it's always downshifting from 6th to 4th.

When I first got the truck the transmission would downshift almost constantly even just driving around town. But now I have almost 2000 miles on it and it has really settled down. Not just on the downshifting but also the volume of the trans... a lot quieter.

How many miles do you have?

I've got 4500 but only 500 on 285s. It was fine before the tires now it's taking some getting used to again.

Not true, it depends on the gearing.

I agree with you, here. At first it was quite annoying how much the trans just shifted and shifted, never seeming to know what it wanted. I'm at 3200 miles now and it is much better. The senior Master Mechanic at my dealership told me about a bulletin they got when these came out, saying that this was an advanced 'learning' transmission and to advise any customer with complaints about the trans and shifting to give it a few thousand miles. I figure that it has to re-learn if you change tires/wheels and it will take another 2k or so after the change.

Mine seems to have learned my driving style or I'm getting less annoyed by it but it's not shifting as erratic as when it was new 3700 miles on it

Well I'm sorry you can't get that where you live. I achieved in Florida staying at 55 with that many stops. So it can be achieved in a two wheel drive double cab V6 at. The problem with today's society wants to not drive the posted speed limits, because think there going to get there faster. What's five minutes getting there sooner or five minutes on time? Well you save gas, money, and lives that's why!!! The people that drive out on these freeways at excessive speeds above the posted speed don't care who's round them and don't care if the change a lane without signaling and running innocent living beings off the road causing serious injuries or killing them.
