Ok so I made a few research on the forum about the abs kill switch mod but I didn't find the answer I was looking for... What is the main point of this mod? shutting off the ABS? Shutting off the vsc quicker than pressing the traction control switch for 3sec?

The main reason why I am asking is I want to know if it keeps the Auto LSD on when the abs is shut off. I know the auto lsd works with the brakes but I didn't find a clear answer in my readings.

    Thanks in advance!

Auto LSD runs off of the ABS, so you lose ALSD when ABS is switched off. The purpose of the mod is to regain total control of your vehicle in situations where the ABS could be hazardous, rather than helpful (snow/ ice on road, slippery descents off road). One could just pull the ABS relay, but the switch allows you to keep the ABS feature when you want it (dry highway driving)

Disabling ABS. ABS is over sensitive and prevents effective braking in the name of skid control in certain traction conditions.

In certain offroad conditions the ABS is outright dangerous. I would rather lock up and drag than allow wheels to keep rolling in many situations.

Yeah I lnow what you mean I've experiences it a few time on icy road where I nearly hit the back of a car because of abs. Blockong the wheels would be more safe in some occasion! I will consider this mod!

One of the best and easiest mods I've done! I did some playing in a parking lot covered in snow that hadn't been driven on just to see what difference lack of ABS made. I approached a point at a certain speed and hit the brakes, then repeated in untouched snow with ABS off at the same speed. I can't remember how fast I was going (wasn't very fast) but did stop 10-15' sooner without ABS in that situation.

Turning ABS off does kill auto LSD. However, auto LSD is only available in two wheel drive. The times I've found I want to turn ABS off I'm already in 4x4 so auto LSD doesn't matter anyway.

    I used this switch http://www.aironboard.com/online/pu...toyota-oem-replacement-abs-off-led-amber.html

and ran two conductors from it, protected in loom, over to the splice point as indicated in other threads.

I would think yours should be the same, the TRD Offroads are different though.

You can get manuals from Toyota and find the correct diagrams. I bought a 2 day subscription once and did screenshots of diagrams for this and for my radio.

I'd expect yours to be the same but would get diagrams for your year or look through to find others that have done what you want on your truck because sometimes there are subtle changes from what I've seen on here.

I used landphils method. Works like a champ. I don't need to worry about the ALSD. I have an old school mechanical lsd for for now..... I will say some times, very rarely it when I turn the switch off the abs light stays on.

    LOOKING FOR SOME HELP!!

Is there a way to wire in a switch that quickly disconnects the VSC (traction control) in the Tacoma?
I find that it takes too long to stop and press the VCS button for 3-5 secs to turn the traction control off. I've found myself in hairy situations multiple times where I need the traction control off immediately and there is no time to stop and do it the standard way. There has to be a way around it!!

I have a 2010 TRD OR (w/ ATRAC, Rear Locker, etc.) manual trans.

I have been searching and searching but no threads to be found. Maybe I'm not using the proper key words but any help or direction would be great!!

Consider the following basic facts based on physics.

Dynamic friction or Static friction. Dynamic friction is always less than Static friction. This is directly related to traction.

A rolling tire, the contact patch on the road is not moving relative to the road, it is Static. The most friction and the most traction or grip.
A skidding tire, the contact patch on the road is sliding relative to the road, it is Dynamic. The lowest friction and the lowest traction or grip.

It has been proven countless times on many different surfaces, tires and vehicles. A vehicle with skidding tires will require more distance to stop than a vehicle with rolling tires.

    Good luck.

You will have better control with rolling tires.
