Bed extender issue

I just bought a 04 Tacoma dbl cab with a bed extender. Problem is, I cant install the extender when my atv is already in the bed. You have to drop the extender into the brackets verticaly and with the atv loaded up I don't have enough room to get the extender in the vertical position...any suggestions?

Little dark to take any pics at the moment. What exactly don't you understand and I will clarify. Basicaly there is a nub on each end of the extender that slides into the brackets on the inside wall of the bed. The extender has to be slid in while vertical and the rear of the atv gets in the way and makes it impossible to insert extender into the brackets.

 

The double cabs have the 5.5 foot beds with not a lot of room to work with. I don't have extenders so I can't really picture the setup. I don't know how much room we are talking either. The obvious answers are:

1. Do without the extender
2. Try to turn the front wheel of atv to move it more forward
3. Get a smaller front wheel for transport

 

Do without the bed extender. If you have it all tied down good it won't go anywhere. I know what you mean. just chaulk the wheels and tie it down and put it in gear. Also, check your tailgate cables to make sure they can hold the weight. You will be good setup like this.

 

What on the atv hits the end of the bed? If it is the tires on the ATV and you want to keep the bed extender I would deflate the tires and carry a air tank to refill tires when you want to ride. Extra work but Im just trying to help.

 

What he is saying is that in order to install the extender it has to rotate. To remove/install it has to be at the 12o'clock position. At the 12 o'clock position the 4 wheeler is in the way and sits too high. The tire being deflated probably wont do anything.
