Do you need to know, or care?
OP, I emailed a shop in Australia last night that builds custom turbo units for the Hilux. Different motors and trannys, but I asked if they would be interested in building one for export to North America.

I'll post here if they respond.

Truth be told, my wife and I have had a good laugh about this whole thread. I have pretty thick skin.

As awesome as this sounds... don't hold your breath. They haven't figured out how to replicate a "plug" for the 09+ Tacomas. I really wish they would just come out and say that they'd given up on that because we all secretly know they have. If the 3rd Gen Tacomas get a S/C kit available I absolutely will consider getting into a new Tacoma. URD, hurry up and also don't let us down!

I do know that Toyota is a bunch of bastards when it comes to unlocking their ECUs. They don't seem to like the tuning community very much.

Didn't seem that way when you told us all to leave earlier lol...All snark and joking aside I really do like the way your build turned out. I personally would have gone with a full size truck to haul it all around but I can dig it either way. Have you noticed any issues with the shell leaking?

I never told everyone to leave. Only trolls. Lol!
No leaking from the shell that I've noticed. Several rain and snow storms and 4 or 5 car washes.

It gets pretty old. It's annoying to me and I'm not even the one that's asking the question.

    Full size with v8?
My instinct was to stay out of this but I have to ask. If you (OP) can afford a 65 Cobra is mpg really that big of a concern? Also, for the cost of "fixing" this issue I would imagine you could buy 100's of gallons of gas. Have you done the math?

Full disclosure, I work in the energy industry so I wish everyone would emulate the OP's mods

Just because he has money doesn't mean he wants to blow it all on gas. There's a reason why people with money have it...

Could have to to more with fuel range rather than cost.

It would be nice to shove Toyota's 4.6L from the Tundra in there. Probably has a better chance of fitting vs the 5.7L. Though that would be awesome. I do miss mine.

Would fix the power issue but i'm guessing it would not resolve the mpg or range issue or Toyota would have done it.

Am I the only one who finds this guys name "Predator Strikeforce", his full on camo'ed out truck and a bunch of pictures of white dudes dressed in full camo holding dead coyotes on his FB page funny?

Should have created a more appropriate thread title then. The truck is fine stock but not for you with your mods which you and everyone else understands. That's why so many trolls.

Actually someone brought up a good question. Are you concerned about range at all? Any thoughts or plans for an aux tank at some point? I'm curious to see some designs for one.
