Toyota wrote:DR REAR BEARING LEAKING ALL OF DR REAR BRKS - REC REPLACE BOTH REAR BEARINGS. PADS AND TURN ROTORS $1850.00 plus tax! . . I took my truck in yesterday that's a picture of behind the rear brake drum. Is it possible it's just the seal and not the bearing? How do they know if the bearing is bad too or is that just standard procedure to replace both. Any advice would help bc I don't have dough like that.
If I can get away with a seal and brakes that would be sweet thanks TW

I can't help on the seal question but...
"Pads and turn rotors" is front brake terminology. Unless you really need front brakes, that's a few hundred $$ they've snuck in already.

Maybe he misspoke - if the seal leaked the read brakes would be soaked and replaced.

Yeah that's what I figured I was due for. Most the videos I've seen say you need the back bearing pressed in that's what I'm hoping I don't have to do.

I guess I'm gonna just have to pull the drum off and see. I understand if the seal leaked how it could get on the PADS but the bearing? Maybe is a money maker 2

Shoes and drums is terminology for rear brakes. If oil leaked into drums, you will need new shoes.
