This. There is a thread on here from someone who jury rigged a Go Pro adapter to a radar detector but I'm looking for something slightly less homemade. Power to the detector with a mirror tap. I'll post it if I ever figure something out.

I use the GoPro as a dash camera and sometimes I attach it to the handlebars of my motorcycle (a boring Harley). It is more for safety purposes than anything else as drivers in south Alabama (me included) sometimes go by different "rules of the road." I set mine on a 20 minute "loop" as I am certainly not going to watch everywhere I have been unless it had some interest to me. I agree that watching GoPro videos (or any for that matter) by anyone else but the "shooter" would be boring to say the least. That's about like watching videos of someone else's kids playing sports, dancing, doing a recital, or your aunt Phoebe's vacation. Since I got the "jab" to us GoPro users it would also be about as boring as viewing a picture of your Tacoma. My plain old SR5 DCSB V6 with the mods I have done is probably boring to others as well so that's why I haven't posted any pics of it.

I keep telling my wife we need to go pro. She says we can't afford it, so I'm trying to figure out how to go amateur... I'll look in the manual...

If someone made a dedicated dash cam that fit the GoPro mount (preferably under $100), I'd consider it.

Lol, I appreciate it man. But I don't think I would ever use the mount. Just an ongoing joke between the lady and I.

If there was hard wiring built in for the battery I would definitely use it.

I use mine every time I drive. I was in two "no fault" accidents in the past 4 years and if I had evidence... it would show that it was THEIR fault! My girlfriend got me a goPro 4 (for paddling) for Christmas and I got my 2016 a few weeks ago and love the GoPro windshield mount.

Probably not the right place to post but.. Willing to to barter any GoPro cameras, mounts, accessories etc for Taco parts (floor liners, bed mats, side steps, light bars, rims, etc.)

Also, I've noticed that some of the better footage I've taken from the GoPro mount, were time lapse photos stitched together, rather than videos.

Since I wouldn't drive my Tacoma off road (especially in the water) like you do, I actually found the videos from your GoPro mount very interesting.

That is the primary reason I bought the Hero Silver 4 to go along with my new Tacom-i.e.-to document an issue I might run into on longer trips. It mounts and unmounts (a word?) very quickly and I use a dark modified pistol sock to cover it when I am away from the vehicle. That protects it from the sun and with the tinted windshield and side windows (dealer add-on) it is barely visible from the outside. I bought several extra mounts for my GoPro such as the handlebar mount and use it on my motorcycle on occasion. Is it a toy...probably but IMO no different than lifts, LED lights, modified grills, and on it goes. But that's the beauty of the automobile/truck. It can be modified, accessorized, or left completely stock depending on the desires of the owner.

I "always" use the Go Pro mount but never for a Go Pro. I've turned my mount into a GPS mount which is hardwired to the battery. One of my favorite mods actually and I've done a lot of mods...

Hint: Take a dark koozie (sp?) such as black, dark brown, or dark green and cut the bottom off up about an inch. If you have a Hero 2, 3, or 4 just slip the koozie up and over the GoPro when it is mounted. Only takes a second and (1) it makes it much more difficult to see from the outside and (2) it helps protect it from sunlight coming in through the windshield. May sound stupid but it works for me!

Don't have a GoPro yet but I think it would be cool to have one to catch my summer wheeling trips.

The kid is adorable. Looks like a fun trip! The video seems professional, to me at least.

I cannot see myself using it at all. I have had a gopro 3+ black (think that is what it is) for the last two years and I can count the number of time I have used it on my hands.

Mainly used it for wreck penetration and to film my ex's scuba classes while she was instructing to provide feedback to the tech diving candidates on their finning/etc. I liked filming as it made me focus on my buoyancy extremely well, but I hated editing the video, so it has sat in my closet for awhile. Actually just put it up for sale the other day.

Now a dash cam I would like to have as i have nearly been hit about 30 times in the last year by people not paying attention and being to busy on their damn phones. Oh how I wish cars had technology to disable the texting feature on a cell while the car is driving.
