    If you're going Big Sur, there's a good spot on Prewitt Ridge.

    One can never have too many light bars.

    About 10min past Prewitt ridge road is Plaskett Ridge Road which is where this is taken.

    Got any more info about these spots? Truck camping ok? Or recommendations of good campgrounds around there? Thinking of going next week

    For Plaskett its just past the campground and Sand Dollar Beach. You'll see a dirt road off HWY 1 and its about a 4-5 mile trip up the dirt road. Truck camping is okay and you can get up there in a 2WD unless it's wet. Pretty much any fire road past Pfeifer will open up to some cool ridges to camp on. I prefer Plaskett because there's some BLM land up there so you can target shoot.

    @Mademan925 @tacomgee @Thomas Jefferson
    Here's a Map https://goo.gl/maps/FBuowzkAM8M2.

    I recommend going up Nacimiento Fergusson Rd and turn south on Coast Ridge Trial. Or you can come in the back way through Fort Hunter Liggett. Hunter Liggett has a lot of wild flowers in the spring time. Plaskett is usually chained off before you get to Coast Ridge trail. @Thomas Jefferson were you able to make it up to coast ridge? I used to go that way all the time, but the land owner got tired of the traffic...

    Other little tips. Sand Dollar Beach is one of the nicest beaches at low tide. It's So flat the waves break and run up the sand for what seems like 100 plus feet. At high tide, you wouldn't even know there was sand there. If you're driving out through Big Sur. Deetjen's Inn has the best eggs benny you could ever ask for! Also If you're up for a late night hot tub Esalen hot springs is open to the public in the middle of the night http://www.esalen.org/page/public-night-bathing

    Hope you have fun!

    I was up there last week and the gate was closed. I was up there last summer and the gate was open. We all figured it was because the trail was a little muddy but maybe it's because of the traffic. We were at Sand Dollar last week and it was pure rocks at high tide. At low tide its one of the coolest beaches in the country.

    Big Sur is so awesome. Its easy to take it for granted because it's only a few hours from us. I need to get down there more.

    How big are these sites? Maybe we should plan a TW camping trip at Big Sur?

    That site it now blocked off. Some asshole did a bunch of donuts on it so the forest service put a fence there. You can still camp there but you have to park on the road. However theres a site up the road that are massive and could definitely hold 20-30 trucks. Heres a pic of it. Not as scenic but much larger.

    Do any of you know if you can access the Prewitt Ridge campsite via the South Coast Ridge Road? I was thinking of going down there in May and I was hoping to do Los Burros Rd to South Coast Ridge Road over to Prewitt Ridge. Is this possible?
