    Hey Guys .

I have a Toyota Tacoma year 1998 , I live in Cambodia so its kind of hard to get a hold on parts.

I did visit a mechanic down here that is good with toyota he did a computer test that showed problem with the "oxygen sensor "

My mechanic told me i have two sensors he said it is good if i change both at the same time. one have a longer cable and one have a shorter ( see the attached pictures)

    IMG_6705.jpg IMG_6707.jpg

I am trying to find a page that sell this parts and ships worldwide

I did find this on aliexpress ( see below )

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Dens..._7&btsid=86e0c520-55f6-4fd7-9b58-d2b8fe94f79b

But i am not sure about quality and i dont know if it is with the long or the short cable

    Any help is highly appreciate

the one in front of the cats is air fuel sensor

the one behind the cats is o2 sensor

they have different part numbers, different cost, and different plugs

and they are different if you are automatic, manual, 4 cyl or 6 cyl

    example:

    1999 3.4 v6 automatic

    a/f front sensor is 89467-35011 Denso 234-9002

    o/2 rear is 89465-39835 Denso 234-4162

[get the DENSO replacement it's cheaper]

look up your specific year and type truck here

change your year and model and engine type...
    http://www.sparksparts.com/auto-par.../emission-system-cat/emission-components-scat

    then search for denso replacments

    oxygen sensor crossreference

change the last part of the URL to the specific toyota part number xxxxx-xxxxx

yes the air fuel sniffs the exhaust before cats, it looks at the oxygen ratio to determine efficient fuel burn
and this one adjust fuel injection and timing to make as close to perfect burn as possible. this directly affects
    engine computer

Stoichiometric or Theoretical Combustion is the ideal combustion process where fuel is burned completely.

the o2 sensor behind the cats only function is test how well the cats clean the air.
it has no effect on engine control but it will throw a code when it detects too clean (exhaust leak) or too dirty (bad cats)

both are really similar and built similar,
but the air fuel is more accurate and can send fine tuned signal waveform for precise control, need to know exactly where it is at all the time

the o2 sensor is much rougher signal as it only needs to know 'be somewhere in the middle'

any one that sells the exact denso replacment. Amazon, ebay, alibaba....just

    a) look up your Toyota part number for your exact truck (use sparks toyota parts link) for your emissions parts and find the sensors

    b) cross reference those toyota parts to Denso part numbers

    c) search the web for those Denso part numbers

ebay/ amazon /and other sites will have them

you will also need TWO stainless nuts for each sensor as well as
a gasket. the sensors come attached to the flange they do not screw in

the whole flange bolts to the exhaust pipe with a diamond shaped gasket piece

I suggest toyota OEM for the nuts. gasket should come with the sensor

what engine type and what transmission type on your 1998 ?

From what I could find the 98' had narrow band sensors and the front and read sensors are identical with the exception of the cable lengths

look it up at sparks toyota the parts and search system there is pretty much gonna give you pn for anything
    what the heck is a 1.6 ?
    --------------
    1) what year ...ok 1998
    2) what motor size, 2.4, 2.7, 3.4 ?
    3) what type? base, limited, sr5, pre-runner, DLX ?

answer 2 and 3 here and we can dig up the specific part numbers for your chariot

here is a link to 1998 tacoma 2.4 liter emissions components, it doesn't use a/f it uses O2 for both sensors (but each one is different)
