After taking it to the dealer and them telling me the driveshaft was screwed up, I took it to a local shop to back the dealerships thesis up and they said it was unbalanced tires. Took it to a tire shop and balanced tires, that didn't solve the severe shaking I had going on. Took it back to local shop and they swore it was the tires and it wasn't, the guy even gave me an attitude, took it back to dealer to double check and they took took the driveshaft to a machine shop where the guy said my driveshaft was bent beyond repair and the truck only has 99K on it. It ain't seen any terrain rough enough to bend a drive shaft like that. Anybody ever had this happen? New shaft is $1000. My truck has seen the dealer every month since October and every time I take it, it costs me $1000 or more:annoyed:

That's what I have considered. Dealership told me not to but they just want me to caugh up a grand.. Again. If it's salvaged, I'm not sure on if it would be straight or not depending how bad the truck was wrecked

you might think about getting it straightened if you live anywhere near a coastal area. Seen some amazing things doen to straighten bent propeller shafts for boats.... just a thought

Of course they don't want you to. Be careful though, some yards will sell you one that is out of round. Some places can even make you a custom one, that's probably your best bet. I recommended a place to my buddy around here that makes them. I'm sure there is a place around you. They are typically 1/3-1/2 the price of a new one, and work great.

Find a shop to build you a new one. They'll take both ends off your old one and weld them to a new tube. Hot rodders have been doing that for years.

Home Depot has them. It's just standard rivets, nothing special. I had to buy more for my Redline hood struts because I accidentally installed them wrong first. They work perfect.

The rivets they use have rings around them. It says in the directions not use regular rivets. Notsure what special effects those rings have other than non slip :notsure:
