What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Can you elaborate on the "measuring" method that I should use? When I lifted my truck about a year ago I went with a used set of Deaver F42s and Bilstein 5125s (8", 8.5"). I doubt they will work once I get the Expos in.

 

Plan on carrying around a winter's worth of meat in backseat?

 

You need to just flex it out until the front tires want to lift off. Then measure the mounts. No shocks should be on when you do this.

 

The fridge is sitting on a painted piece of 3/4" plywood that is attached to the bench. This extends the depth of the surface and also gives a flat, even platform to work with. The fridge is then strapped to the wood platform. Sorry, no close-up pics of this.

I'm thinking this stuff would work nice for a wheel well apron. I'm hoping the 1/8" thickness is not to stiff.

Last night I was reading the thread where the guy built a roll out gun safe in the bed of his 2016 Tacoma and put a two seat shooting platform on the roof. Now he's struggling to recover mpg and taking a lot of heat for not planning ahead. Reminds me of the flames when that guy with the brand new orange Tacoma wanted to add a $5K vinyl clear wrap. This site is so entertaining sometimes.


Lesson learned though. I might rethink putting a RTT above the roofline. Or at least try to figure out a way to lower the bed rack for travel.

two questions!

1. Can anyone recommend a good bay area mechanic that understands lifts (OME)

2. I noticed the other day their are some leather covers in the front wheel wells that provide coverage to the engine/exhaust. do people keep those on? Mine seem to rub/have started tearing

 

So my front coils are starting to sag and was wondering
What are the reasons that you shouldnt run second gen lift coils on a first gen taco
As far as i can tell they will fit seeing as the 883 is listed for first and second gens so the coils have the same basic shape
im running the 882 why couldnt i jump up to the 887 for instance

Heres the information on the two different coils ive found online
I have a 1" lift spacer for my front end but would rather buy new springs then use a coil spacer

1. Whats there to not understand about the lift? Its basically the same as replacing the oem leafs and struts. Your usual mechanic of choice shouldnt have any problem installing.

 

Cause 887 are meant for a much heavier truck. That being a second gen

 

Where did you find that hose? Mine was the same issue.

 

Okay how much is my spindle/hub and uca combo worth off my wrecked truck 125,000 miles I have a buyer from Denver and he is coming to get it but he isn't on TW!

 

I have heard stories about shops not being able to adjust the alignment for the suspension increase over stock.

has anyone had luck putting a twin pipe tundra exhaust from a 2004 on a tacoma?

 

I paid $130 shipped for my last set. Think I paid about $90 at Yota Jims for one.

882's are the tallest of the first gen options from OME but a lighter spring rate. The 887s have the same spring rate as the 883s, but are even taller than the 882s. Might work if you have a bunch of weight on the front, but even then it will probably provide too much lift.
