    The skin can be used with the factory hardware, however that hardware threads into these cheap, plastic inserts. You tighten just ever so much and it is stripped. We offer replacement hardware. You drill out the holes that the plastic inserts are in, insert our steel threaded insert nut and compress, then install our tailgate reinforcement plate with steel bolts to pull everything tight. This insures that the reinforcement plate and tailgate are "locked" together, a much stronger solution over the plastic inserts and factory torx screws.

    Just placed an order for a plain reinforcement with hardware kit (shipment to Blaine, WA). Have a question though - will the hardware kit work with the plate mounted under the OEM plastic cover, so I have the both - the reinforcement and the plastic installed at the same time?
