Warning Indicator Light

I have just over 4500 miles on the Tacoma. Once I rolled past that mark, I began to get a notice in the display saying that I need to schedule the first service. However, almost immediately after the master warning light pictured below came on. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this possibly tied to the scheduled maintenance?

If anyone has gotten this warning, what was it?

UPDATE !! Dealer said that although this light is used for other critical warnings, in this instance the warning light IS tied to the maintenance schedule. They said I could have waited until 5k miles before bringing it in.

Says take it to the dealer. That's it. Was thinking there was a chance that they tied the first required maintenance to that indicator light as well.

 

I got the same thing... just a warning for your upcoming 5K servicing. You'll continue to get that for each 5K increment

 

I'd probably call and ask a service writer and get their advice then.

I got the first maintenance light when I hit 4500 mi. which is a reminder to schedule service but I never got the second master warning light from your pic. I would check in to it if I were you.

 

Mine came on at 4500 and was reset at the first service. I expect to see it again in another 4500 mi.

 

It is your upcoming 5k light. Trust me I know.

 

It flashes 500 miles before the service.

 

Scheduled my 5K maintenance on Friday. Shortly after that, that same light came on my dash. I am thinking the dealer sent a signal to my truck turning the light on confirming my appointment.












But yes, that is the reminder light.

 

Took mine in for same thing and dealer said it was for tire rotation.

 

Irritating that when mine popped on the messages screen in the 4" display on the cluster said no messages. The acual maintenance message only stays on for a few seconds when starting the truck up.

Dealer said it would display the maintenance message longer if you exceeded to 5k service reminder. I would still like to see a message to know for sure if all is good...it is what it is.

Anytime you see the triangle w/exclamation it is to make you aware that a warning message is being shown. The icon doesn't indicate a specific issue, it tells you to look at the display screen for details. In your case, it was telling you that the "service engine soon" warning was shown.

 

Yeah, but the message goes away after 5 seconds then says "no messages" while the warning light stays on. Stupid message should stay on telling you to get service so you don't miss it.

 

When you hit 5K it stays on. Once it is reset it goes another 5K from that mileage so if you are early say 4,500 then reset it will come on again at 9,500 it's 5K from a reset not every 5K spot on.

 

I put my truck through the paces on the beach pounding some serious whoops/whalebacks and got the SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL deathscreen. I searched around the net and jumped out a coupla pins on the obd and cleared it.

 

It's in the manual. You can reset it yourself very easily. It is just a reminder that 5K is coming.
