Ahhh, so it WAS a ship! Maybe in a few years.. I'll have to renew my X card, tho. Be a good way to save, then take a month and rent a house in say, Spain, then a different country next time off, etc...

Actually know a lot of guys who do similar. Mostly surfer types. I used to do long road trips before starting a family. I'd hop off the boat and spend ten weeks driving around doing whatever I wanted. I basically had a storage unit that I kept my truck and all my stuff in. I'd get off the boat and bum a lift to the storage unit where I'd load up and hit the road. Back of the truck was loaded up with camping stuff, mountain bike stuff, dive stuff, etc depending on where I was going. Met my wife working on a ship and our schedules were the same, so wound up traveling with her quite a bit too. We didn't really cut back on that til we had a little one. Not really enough room in the Xtracab, so we bought a DCSB and are building a teardrop (wife wanted something hard sided and I didn't want to deal with a pop up in the PNW)

The toughest part about sailing is if you have a family. Being gone for a few months isn't much fun but skype and email help quite a bit, especially if your ship is in port regularly. If I could find something shoreside that had the same time off and pay I'd be on it in a heartbeat. Til that comes up though, I'll keep going to sea.

We need to meet up. Too funny, as I have surfed my whole life, and have cruised my own boats somewhere around 25,000 miles. ( all pacific) and have sailed either on yachts or ships for 30 years. Ran 2 shipyards too!
Now the kid is grown, and we have thought of using a ship job to figure out where to retire.
I'll take any pointers you have.
I'm former CPO Warrent, MM 500 ton all ocean, tow and sail endorsed, out of date X card, but former mate rating, so have a bit of sea time. Would love to chat. Sending PM with contact info. Let's touch base next week.

I haven't been able to check back, I was in meetings for 90% of the day. I'll forward the advice
EDIT: I looked at their website, and COVO is meant more for Vietnam vets and guys who have been on the streets more. I think Chuck just needs a temp place to store his stuff and sleep while he secures another rental.

There are a couple places such as the Sheppards House and the Mission that could provide temporary servives. Both are more directed to addictions oriented homelessness. The Bethlehem inn may be a better fit. It's near Bimart. Rentals are super tough to come by right now, super spendy too. Rental market sucks for renters, boom for owners. It's outrageous.

That's why you are supposed to carry a spare set of clothes with you wherever you go. No need to turn around. Change out right there field and be on your way. Lol

Anyone have a need for the following stuff:

-4 BFG Rugged Trail tires 265/70R16 about 85% tread left. Would make great spares.

-White front bumper with fog light housings

-Chrome rear bumper with tow hitch

    -All weather mats for DCSB

ALL ITEMS FREE! Need them gone due to moving.

I'm in the final stages of completing my lift build out. It'll be pretty intrusive with full coilovers and UCAs up front and a leaf pack, flip kit with bump stops and new shocks in thee rear. I wouldn't consider that a mod day dealio. Too much to ask! Hah.

Anyone have any experience with a bed rack? Will be receiving my 2016 TRD off-road DCLB in the middle of may. Looking at the all-pro pack rack to house my CVT tent.
